MAN am I pissed.

That 3000mah Ni-Mh battery was on sale for 20 bucks, but I don't have a charger for it. :x All I have is the 300mah variable-power AC adaptaplug adaptor and the 9.6v charger for my 9.6v battery.

But anyways...

I'm gettying conflicting stories here. Someone says 9 volts fries the PSone, someone else says it's OK to use. What's the deal here? :? Me confused!

9V will fry the PSX, but the PS1 has a 7805.

Bicostp, those 3000mA 7.2v batteries use the same adapter as the 2000mA 7.2v batteries at RadioShack. Go buy a Ni-Cd/MH charger and use it. Also those charges work with 7.2v and 9.6v.

Yeah Radio Shack has a trickle charger that will work with any 7.2V-9.6V RC car battery.

I read about a guy who made a PS1P, and he said he had the PSone screen and the PSone running off 9.6V. So I guess it would work. Unless he was a liar.... Try it, at worst you will have to jump a blown fuse :)

I know. The one near me was sold out of the chargers when sold seperately. I would have had to buy the 200mah battery along with it. The only seperate chargers they had were the base units for those Tyco battery packs.

Would the one I have work? output 12v CD 300ma (probably not but it might..)

I'll go again tomorrow. It's 8:30 and raining right now, and I don't feel like driving all the way back there just for a battery.

Whoa, when did this relic come back from the dead?

Yes it's a very, VERY drawn out portable. I have redone the design many many times (I think I have about 20 designs somewhere), and here's what I'll probably do:

I'll probably replace the back of the PSone case, leaving the top part unchanged (after some patching). The back will be replaced with a new back that has the controller board, batteries and the screen. The screen's original case will probably be left intact and patched into the new case.

It will have a built in 15 block memory card, and hopefully it will look halfway decent. (I don't want to put a ton of work into designing something that will wind up looking like a P.O.S, you know?

Why do I want to do it this way?
1. I won't have to deal with a CD cover, jumping the disc cover switch, etc
2. It shouldn't look too bad, since the original parts will still be there to an extent
3. The rounded PSone case should be fairly comfortable to handle
4. Minimal work will be needed for rewiring ports, and I can leave the stock AV and power jacks where they are.

I'm just worried about heat. Wouldn't the backlight inverter need to disperse heat somehow? And how would it do so in an enclosed case?

Do you guys think a PSone power adapter (the stock one, not the one that comes with the screen) will power both the console and the Intec screen safely? (ie it won't catch fire or explode or something like that :P)

I'll see about drawing up a concept design sometime this weekend. (I have a little procrastination problem, so no guarentees :P But I'll try to produce something)
