Some comments on the story:
First, how about the start showing Ben at work? That's where he got the idea, at first.
And, although its a good plot, I don't want the game to be strictly linear. (If it was, one could easily beat the game just by reading ben's website).
Also, I don't know as yet how feasible mini-games will be, or if a great amount of detail in the plot is needed.
Here's how the game structure looks as it will be coded:
The game engine is divided into 3 different modes. Each is made to branch off from the main loop.
1. Cutscene mode (camera movements and scene data loaded from a file, used for getting up in the morning, routing with CNC machine etc [any non-interactive part])
2. Free-roam mode (Ben can walk anywhere in the city and get supplies, build etc)
3. Building mode (When Ben walks through a building's door in Free-roam mode, the engine branches to this mode where the engine shows the inside of the building.)
I think this structure will be all that's needed, maybe I should add a Mission mode as well? It would be a subset of Free-roam mode.

What the HELL is that quote? He sounds like a robot.Lucretius wrote:Camera pans slowly around him with a voice-over of himself, thought-like, saying: "I like the Atari 2600. I really do. I'd kinda like to emulate it so I can have it with me all the time, but I prefer the real thing. How can I keep the Atari 2600 with me all the time...a portable. I'll hack it into a portable console. Slap a screen *cuts to PSOne screen...*, some batteries *...a battery pack...* and wrap it in a case *...then a cnc machine* and boom! It's PERFECT!"

Thanks for all the input. This is a rough-rough-rough-rough-rough-rough-draft, so it's FAR from finished. The script will be the hardest part and I plan on calling on Ben to ask him "Now, what would you say here?"
Also, Nicholai, you gotta learn to use Constructive critism. That way people won't notice you're an ass. True to life... and one more thing *..* means "stage/camera directions. Try not to be a complete moron...it scares me...

I knew what the astricts meant, I'm not completely illiterate, despite what you may think.Lucretius wrote:Thanks for all the input. And how was that not constructive criticism? I pointed out (what I think is) a fault, and suggested you fix it.
