It's well possible that the PSP LCD could be used with the gumstix board according to the mailing group I've joined through them. The datasheet for this particular panel is here. With a resolution of 480 x 272 is pretty awesome.

The only reason I bought an XBOX instead of a gamecube was because of the crappy zelda graphics. Now getting a rev because of Zelda graphics with no HD...irony: I think so!

Thats not a bad point you very probably could use a linux installed PDA to do the things you wany, and rebuild it in to a dedicated case for the unit. Here is a hack to attach a NES pad to an IPAQ.

BUT i't not what I want, I want to have an internal harddrive. I want a good strong PMP, with good gaming emulation and PC functionality.

I really don't think Gumstix will give you what you want, then, because Gumstix will only give you very limited PC capabilities. If you're going to go with Gumstix, you might as well go with a PocketPC. You could buy a model that accepts CompactFlach Type II, and put in a nice 4-6GB CF microdrive, or you could try to mod a a CF connector to interface (via lengthy wires) with a full hard drive.
The newer Dell Axim's offer full 640x480 screens, CF microdrive compatability, wifi, and integrated 16MB 3D graphics acceleration. They can very easily emulate anything up-to and including PSone games. The only downside is expense, and you don't get the feeling of accomplishment that you get from DIY stuff.

I'm considering this as a main baord the more I use my PC-Phone the more I become depressed at its speed and incompatability with other software. Especially emulation and inability to to use any multimdia software at all.
The screen is sooooooo sexy being all 640 x 480 and everything. (at 4 inches in total)
WHAT should i do????

PS keeping in mind that the LTM04C380S LCD is awesome and me favourite (it lives in my PC-ePhone atm)

KANDYMAN-IAC: If you can find the wiring kit ( PCM-10586-5A00 ), my vote is go for it, pending you have the money. I used to know where you could pick one up online, as that's the kit I hacked up for my PCM-9574, but it's gone now. Combine it with the LCD of your PC-Phone (the PCM-9575 has a built-in LCD controller, though the connectors are kind of a pain) and a 5Volt power source, you'd have a nice PCp.
definitely re-read my PCp thread, as I'm using the same formfactor board.
Triton: most Mini-ITX don't have LCD controllers, and the extra 2 inches in one dimension would make PCp larger (every little bit hurts).

Probable design concepts for the unit could be something like this. If this were to be released I'd actually probably buy this.
What do other people think of the rogue??
I'm definitely leaning towards a via based mainboard... the Nano-itx mainboard would be really good to check out if it was available to investigate more thoroughly.

For one thing, few ordinary people are capable of building up the 20+ million dollars that this SL-Interphase company says it needs in order to bring the Rogue to market. Furthermore, the Rogue is too large to be of much apeal to most people: it is a gaming laptop with half of its functionality sliced off. Furthermore (again), most PC games rely on mouse/keyboard combinations, and mapping those to a controller style input is counterintuitive. Finally, how dare someone be further along in planning and developement then I
I'm afraid I would never shell out $1500 for a limited gaming tablet, especially when you can get an incredibly decent gaming laptop like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834115196 for hundreds less, AND it comes with its own built in keyboard
No, I think retro PC gaming has a much larger future in the portable tablet market than high-end gaming does

if i had $1500.00, i would be able to make a portable gaming pc......seing i have most of the parts.......i would just need time, and a motherboard that would take a very low voltage! maybe use a laptop mobo.........and kinda use the Rogue design only i would be able to make it smaller. I have many laptop hard drives, and a lot of ram...dont forget laptop dvd and cd drives. I think anyone who has $1500.00 to shell out could make one of those
But it is a cool idea.
You could go here to get all pcp parts: http://comp-recycle.com/shelves.htm

I've just found this for the PSP. It may be possible for similar technology to enable the GPX2 to be able use large compact flash drives for storage, or possibly even possibly a laptop harddrive.
