I already had all the tools, which really surprised me, because my dad isnt into electronics, so I didnt have to pay ofor those, but those are a big part of the overall cost.

well, i used a scrapped NES, N64, and PSone. So those were all free. Screen cost $55, components cost about $30 per console. And bateries are about $25. I use a "universal" battery system, and universal screen system i pieced together. It helps keep costs down.

My NESp was about...
Screen $60 (broke the first one)
family converter $15
GBO $3
SJ3 $35
Paint $6
NES buttons $2
magnet $3
Glue $6
AAA battery holders ~$5
misc parts $15
Wire NADA! (said in Monster garage voice)
Grand total $150 Wow, I never added it up and that was what I was tellin people it cost! I'm a good guesser!
All my other portables cost almost nothing since I didn't do much to them, or they just didn't cost much.

N64: $13
screen: $13
battery: $21
controllers: guessing $5
expansion pack: might get for $5
DC-DC convertor: i dunno. $15 maybe?
RCA jacks: free from broken TV
soldering island: $11
wires: free!
heatsinks: free from broken TV
other random stuff: probably $15
so if my predictions are right, it should be about $98, rounded up to $100. actually since i'm buying most of the stuff in mass, it'll end up being much more thatn that but i'll end up having much more stuff than just the stuff needed to make 1 portable
