You could choose a 667MHz module with 64MB Dram, SuperIO, Audio and Touchscreen, for 292 dollars at a reasonable qunatity of 10.
yes, from a commercial perspective this is good, however in order to get the configuration for $292 you would actually have to buy 1000 units, I said less than 10 because the multiplier changes at 10 units, it would still cost close to $450 or so.

the multiplier table is:
100K----0.8
10K-----0.9
1K-------1.0
500------1.1
100------1.3
10-------1.6
1---------2.0

(it should be noted that the evaluation kid does contain the most tricked out possible configuration as well as all cables and adapters and power supplies you could need with the thing)

Also, I found a 166mhz one kinda like that, but I'm not going to show where it is because there is only one in stock. If I bought it, I would be getting a steal.

Loup, your numbers aren't in agreement with my numbers for some reason :? The configuration I mentioned would cost 183 per unit for 1000. 183 times the multiplier 1.6 for only ten of them yeilds about 292 dollars.

daleighan, you don't have to say where it is, but could you give us a general rundown of the specs? Namely, does it have 'real-world' peripheral connections?

It has:
-166mhz geode
-1x IDE
-128 mb ram
-vga
-takes 5v at 60 mah!!!
I love the fact that it uses almost no power! Does anyone know where I can actully buy a newer pc/104 board where there actually is like: an order option.

I think it may be. I guess where I found it had the wrong power usage listing. Also, does anyone know how to get the ports to put on that thing?

I'm definitely gunna get that. I found it for $72.95. Thats a lot better than Gumstix, because I can run my favorite OS on it; ubuntu. My plan is to get a 4gb microdrive and an IDE to CF adaptor and use that as an HD. I will probably use a PSone screen, and I will use this mini trackball that I have. Does anybody know of a smaller screen that will take vga? Is there a way to Extract composite from VGA easily?

A few things Ive been thinking about with the altoids PCP. BTW, Im definitely doing this. Screw saving to get a car next year, I live for the moment!

First, to have a reasonable amount of space, you need to move the lid up so that the hinge is on the rim. There is no way you can put ascreen in the lid if you dont do that, and it is easy enough.

Second, what are those little nub things that some old laptops used to use, that where in the middle of the keyboard for a mouse, called. They are the only resonable solution for a mouse that I can think of.

Third, would a screen even fit in the lid? Theres only 8mm to work with so I dont really know.

Fourth, Its going to be very hard to put any expansions at all in an altoids tin. I would like to add the NetCf, as well as the Audiostix extensions, but Im not sure if the plugs will fit. Im planning to either have head phones, or pput ear plug (or pod, like the ipod headphones) headphone speakers next to the screen.

Fith, I found the perfect option for power and memory, the ipod. It has the right voltage battery that fits snugly in the bottom of the altoids case, is only 5mm thick, and has good power. I was wondering if I could use the ipod hard drive for a hard drive. It fits perfectly, but I dont know if I could connect it.

Here is what my Altoids PCP will be:
Gumstix connex $100
NetCF $65
Audiostix $40
Minikey usb PS2 keyboard $15
ipod battery $0
ipod HD $0
Screen $60
mouse $30
Total $350

Yes you can, get a CF to IDE connector, then hook up your HD. I have a similar setup. I use:
400 mHz connex Gumstix
NetMMC adapter

Sony 5 in. PSone screen OR Sony 240 x 160 2.7" Color Reflective TFT Graphical Display with LED Frontlight
Windows CE Port for Gumstix
Modded iConcepts PDA Keyboard
A laptop trackpad for the mouse
512 MB MMC card

Comes out to under $270.00, i alreday own some of the stuff
Things in Green are the things i already own.
Things in Red are things i don't own.

How much does the windows CE port cost?
Also, how are you going to fit a trackpad in an altoids tin, or are you not using an altoids tin?
