i never asked for a link and that wasn't a question, but who would call there company Halo.......anyway, is it possable to view the Gumstix on there own screen(PSONE screen) and put like a simple linux system(DSL) on a mmc card and boot it....the gumstix are definitely powerful enough to do it, but i wonder how hard it would be to do this, because i dont use linux that often and know almost nothing(i've only use XDSL for Xbox, and its pretty good) If you made pcp out of one of these, you could go against the OQO, and win the smallest pc award!!!!!!!!! Now that would be soooooo cool :D

Wow...this stuff is really hot! Ben, you definitely gotta do this. I'll gladly throw some money to help invest into this project!!! All I would ask for in return is some good plans on how you made this. The final product when complete would go to Joe or yourself...whatever you two decide, but, I would just like some good plans on what you did. Let me know...

Well now that there is a cheap powerful, and nonpower hungry, as well as extremely small, I think this project may actually work. I think you may have to settle for a non vga screen if you want to keep the price under $400, but this definitly has potential. The other thing is the touch screen with the stylus. It certainly is possible, but it would drive the cost up greatly. It would be much easier to buy a $25 PDA size screen, and have a trackball, or something fo the mouse. Internet shouldnt be a problem seeing as gumstix has a wifi extentsion.

I just read that somone is porting Windows CE onto the Gumstix....its out, but in beta......so there are some bugs. But that is totally awsome. I just want to know if you could use a PSOne screen? If so, you could make a pcp for under $250(depending on which gumstix model you buy) It would be like this:
"Hey guys, i just got the GBA micro" -Jimmy
"Awsome" -The crowd
"that thing sux" -Me
"what do you have Mr. Richboy?"
*whips out Gumstix pcp*
"this!" -Me
"Whow...sweet......screw that micro toaster, or whatever it was...." -Crowd
*Totaly boots Windows CE and plays Zelda minish cap on GBA emulator*
-That would be so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just need to find a compatible screen that is small and is about PDA size.

Well, maybe if you bypassed the PSone's ADC board and wired straight to the lcd. But that's a huge IF.

i found some pinouts, located here:
http://www.gumstix.org/tikiwiki/tiki-in ... page=I%2FO
And here is a screen that is compatible:
http://store.earthlcd.com/s.nl/sc.7/cat ... id.2176/.f
All i need now is pinouts for that screen...and does anyone want a link to the Windows CE port for Gumstix?
And heres a pic of Windows CE running on Gumstix:

And i just thought of the perfect case to put this baby in, a Gutted DS Case! or maybe even a Gutted GBA micro case! that would be so cool, its like:
"yo guys, im playing mario" -some kid who owns GBA micro
"yo guys, im doing last nights homework and playing SNES" -Me
:D I think the Gumstix would be perfect to make a micropcp. Once the Windows CE port is completly done( or near done ) I'm gonna buy a Gumstix and put Windows CE 5.0 on it.....i'm still deciding what screen to use!

Your deciding? Does that mean you actually have some choices picked out? :?

For the sake of all interested parties, could we please start a list of all compatable LCD screens, plus whether they are color/mono, Active/Passive Matrix, and the size?

I agree. What is required of the screen, for it to be compatible?
BTW This is turning out to be quite an interesting project.
