If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.
Im using a hip gear screen to run an xbox, Im using a composite mod from the motherboard of the xbox, the screen is powered by a power adaptor 12v 500ma, the video connectors are connected straight to the wires that would normally run to the video connector of the pad.
Im getting a looping image, Ive used a program in the xbox to switch to NTSC but its still looping.
Its the new style board inside of the hip gear screen.
hmm.. I've only had that experience with hip screens when their power input gets shorted out for a bit. The only thing is that none of the onboard fuses seem blown.

Im going to take another look at the whole thing this weekend, take it back to the start and check the solder points.
I realize this is a bit old already, but I was having the same problem. Don't use the wires on the controller that are supposed to go to the game system, just connect directly to the orange (or was it yellow) and brown wires that go directly to the screen
