Has anyone ever reverse engineered the SuperJoy III board?

I mean just to the point where you could desolder the main chip on the board and place it on a custom designed board. You could just order the board and make much more stable NES builds.

Re: eliminating the PS2 DVD drive completely

well you could think of it in the same way as using the screen from a portable TV, how much of the board can you get rid of while still being functional.

Depends on the complexity of the circuit board. If it's just dual layer, you can trim a lot, such as all the connectors. With a four layer ...

Re: eliminating the PS2 DVD drive completely

It is my understanding (have not tried personally) that the PS2/PSTwo will boot without the DVD drive connected, but many games have troubles with not being able to talk to the drive.

The PSTwo has the connections needed to connect an IDE harddisk, but are not externally exposed. SATA drives can ...

eliminating the PS2 DVD drive completely

I've been considering doing a PS2 portable project for a while, but one problem I have with it is leaving that large DVD drive in the final product. I got to thinking, what if instead you could just use a hard drive only with a modded memory card or modchip to boot into it? Now first what I need to ...

How do I use Csync with RGB

What are some well known portable LCDs/Pocket TV w/ inputs

Most the time sellers don't bother to list whether or not the portable TVs have inputs in them but I am just wondering what are some common portable TVs that have AV inputs. If anyone had a list that would be even better.

Casio TV-470 Pins

Hey, I'm looking at this Casio TV-470 and trying to figure out which pins can wire up the LCD for power and display.
On the ribbon cable from the power/tuner board I see:
GND
VCC1
VCC7
6 (Thats all it says is 6)
VCC2
VCC6
VEE1
I/O
MODE
AFT
B
G
R
BU
H/L
TU
HDB2
C-Sync

I'd try to take a picture but ...

Issue with this step:
"3. Insert the HD-OS (HDL, HDA or Homebrew) or plug in Memory Card which was built-in with HD-OS.elf file. "

You'll need to still have the DVD drive to boot this as it is shipped. I have, however, seen videos on Youtube of PS-Twos that were modchipped to boot off USB with no ...

Here are some things I learned while making my NOACp:
-Make sure the parts will fit properly in the case. I ended up having to make the case around 1/2" thicker because the parts didn't fit in the configuration I had originally planned.
-Try to keep the wires inside at least somewhat organized. It ...

That is the only way to do it within reason. $130 is your only option.

Seriously, though, why build a console that can only use a flashcard? may as well get a PSP or GP2X to just emulate it.
or get a pandora or a gp2x wiz  :D
Well yea, I know you can emulate them on devices like PSP, which ...

Check Ben's famicom to NES pinout on his downloads page.
Thank you so much.
I've also had another idea of somehow creating my own ROMs chip and just having the ability to load any game I want onto an SD card or something. I've seen the NES CompactFlash reader but that's $130 and way out of my ...

Any tips/warnings? Building First NESp

Okay so I'm starting on my very first portable NES project, first portable gaming device project ever in fact.
I'll be using the NES-on-chip Super Joy III for size reasons.
I'll be checking all the forum posts before to pick up anything I can there but just was asking here if there are any tips ...

PS2 Portable w/ hard drive

Hm, so I had an idea for making a PS2 portable using a PS2 slim board. One thing special about this mod is that I was suggesting scrapping the DVD drive and replacing it with a smaller 2.5" laptop hard drive.
Now I know the PS2 slim right away does not have a hard drive bay but the PS2 combo, http ...
