WERD did a slot loading dreamcast on his Dream Tablet
He made a custom circuit that we discussed when I originally was talking about making a iCast with a slot loading iMac G3.
He hasn't posted much here recently, but I think he has a link to his blog site which has a bit more info on the circuit ...

Re: What if someone made a portable Sega Saturn?
Unlike the Beautiful N64?? Talk about homely! But it sold well, thanks to Mario, DK & ZeldaTechScreen19 wrote:Maybe it's because nobody likes Saturn games, it was a total Sega failiure.
Well it had good games but it didn't sell well. And its all fat and ugly.

Re: Sega CD 2 Door Switch
That high priced laser was for a SCD Model 1 Optima 5s
The SCD model 2 usually uses an Optimna 6s which can be had for around $20

Re: GG LED Mod (56k warning)
Tibia sent me a link to where she posted the guide, but maybe if we ask nice, she'll post the link here. I won't do it without her OK because it's her work. Thanks again, Tibia.

I wouldn't want you to go to too much trouble. Whatever is easier for you.
A walkthrough would be great, but can be so labour intensive.
I'd be happy with either.

Re: GG LED Mod (56k warning)
Awesome work!
So, you've inspired me to do this mod, but I've done a fairly exhaustive search and I can't find any details on this mod. Would you be able to post some more details of your mod? Like where you connected your wires, resistor sizes, LED rating, etc.
I don't mean to press and if you ...

Re: Where can I find 26 pin .5mm Pitch FFC cable extension?
There is also a website that sells stuff for DYI projectors and there is a post on these forums in the Sega Dreamcast forum that has a link but since they upgraded the forums I can't search for it since the search function only finds stuff posted after the upgrade. But do a little digging and I'm ...

Okay, so you did most of what I plan to do, but you scrapped the actual CD drive board and case and just used the frame and tray. Is that right? So that's why you needed to make your own controller circuit. Looks pretty good. I may just scavenge it from you. I'll be sure to credit you if I do.

Ha Ha. Yeah. the iCast disc shooter.
Did you transplant the whole DC drive assembly into the slot load drive or take it apart and just replace the motor and laser?
So you have a working slot load DC GD-ROM drive that just ejects poorly? Awesome. Love to see some details of your work (don't feel ...

Re: A Sega Genesis/CD/32X in a Saturn shell?
yeah, I popped open my Saturn and my Sega CD 2 and the use the same if not a very similar cd drive. I even switched over a Saturn Laser assembly to my X'Eye and it worked so it's compatible to a large degree.. The top of the drive fits the cutout in the Saturn case (the one on the Sega Cd case is ...

Re: iCast: If it has a handle on the case, its a portable, right?
So, I plan on making an all-in-one Sega machine in a PC case and I've been fooling around with putting a DC drive into a PC CD-Rom drive using the existing hardware. I've gutted a few obsolete CD drives and I've managed to swap the spindle on my DC drive with one from a CD drive that uses the ...
