how do you take apart the "gold" bolt-type ones?
Do you mean like the ones in Nintendo systems and older carts? For those the pen melt method can be best.

Does anyone have any experience hacking SigmaTel chips? Specifically, the SMTP35xx line. I'm working on an iPod Shuffle hack, and I want to addon a 1.8" hdd, but I'm not sure where to begin. I have a schematic (i think) of the chip, so that's no problem.

because having an MMC card stick out the end of a Ninetendo controller would look ugly and wouldn't be secure.
