OK! Be aware this may break the NES controller, as nobody has tested it yet while using the chip. I used the PCB for the buttons only, so this fixed it.

You are running the NES controller without the controller chip? How are you driving the controller then?

Those globs are resistive traces BTW ...

Yep, original NES controller. I guess bioniclebert has a solution that he will be posting a picture of soon! We'll have to try that

Re: yobo/controller problem

Anyways, my current problem. I've gotten everything working right but this last thing. Whenever I push more than one button at a time, it acts as if I've pushed Start. This includes the D-pad. Other than that, everything's fine. But it's impossible to play just about every game without pushing a ...

Very odd indeed. Every original AC adapter I have seen outputs 9VAC, 1.3A.
The original frontloader NES has a bridge rectifier inside the console itself, changing it to DC.
Often, people use a DC adapter on the original NES. It'll work, because DC will flow through a rectifer, just on one side of ...

No, I mean like, did you take the NES (official controller) chip, and then solder those wires DIRECTLY to those tactile switches, and the pins on the NOAC. It's not frying, but it won't actually work.

I didnt, no.. This is just a regular standard NES controller with the resistors still intact ...

Geebs61:
I re-read your posts, and I think I see what you are saying... you had trouble when you had both the powerjoy AND NES controller connected simultaneously. You cut off the powerjoy, and now the NES controller is fine.

If this is the case, my issue is different. I dont have the powerjoy ...

Well, one thing i know is that BOTH of my official NES power adaptors output 9 volts DC (check yours with a volt meter and double check you weren't just reading the label wrong)

You must be reading it wrong.. I double checked... Original NES Adapters output 9VAC, not DC. This adapter will not ...

Isnt the original NES adapter, AC output?
This would cause a 60hz hum, along with other problems

I solved my problem with this. I still had the powerjoy controller connected in line with the NES controller. I snipped the poweryjoy controller, and now it works fine.

Very interesting. So just to verify, you cut up the powerjoy controller so only the glob remains, and wired it in parallel with ...

Perhaps you should try wiring in an NOAC controller that came with it? Some clones just HATE the actual NES controller for some reason or another, but they may take kindly to the usually Genesis knockoff controller they provide you with. Just a thought.

Possibly. Im going to try the ...

Yes, this is how it is wired. Keep in mind also, that the controls work fine for a little while then it starts getting erratic.

A side note.. I am using a nicely filtered +5v PSU. Tested with meter to make sure it is the correct voltage, it is reading 5.06v

Nothing is overheating. All parts are ...

New guy with a problem

Hi, Im new here.
I was hunting through this forum for a problem I'm having, and see that other people also have this issue. But from what I found, nobody has a solution.

I have 2 different superjoy NOAC's. Both have 13 pins instead of 12. Its all wired up correctly, and works. However, Player 1's ...
