Ok, I know I will sound like a noob after I say this, but I want an answer and this seems to be probably the best place to ask.

I have lots of Old electronic devices I don't use. Most of them probably have the digital(?) display that don't natively support S-Video RCA etc.

I just fixed the led which had copper traces broke off and i am having higher hopes of fixing the controller ports...

Next time i will remember not to try to desolder using A soldering iron... (thats how i messed up)

I accidentally "ripped" the controller port out so i could solder the controller directly to the Mobo.
My Q is do i have to do anything to the controller before i do this because it isn't working. I attached it assuming it was male according to the information thread. I might have messed the ...

I got it, it turns out i was connecting one wire from the battery to ground and thats why it was sparking. but i plugged it up and turned it on and its good. now i just got to get a screen.
(I got the BenHeck book today so i will read up)

One more question:
How do i now if my controller is male ...

I tried this and nothing happened which either means i should remove the AC plugin or i should charge my batteries again.

If I should remove the AC now is it safe to desolder it? I was about to and one of my friends said it would mess up the circuit board by overheating it.

also how about 7 AA, would that work? would it dramatically cut battery life?
when i get the screen will the same method that worked to hack it for NES work for this? (Its a PSone screen)

ok when i plug my 9.6V NIMH battery to it (RC car one) all that happens is it sparks once and stops. I know the battery is full charge and i know that it didn't burn my genesis's board because i hooked it up to the original power supply and it works fine. would this mean i am not powering it enough ...

OK let me rephraze this. do i have to do anything to the circuit board before hooking up the battery?
I am pretty sure this is not a hard question for people who have been doing this for a while.

also if i am going to research any good ideas on were to start?
