I checked both the ends of the power up led (the green led on the motherboard) and both sides have a negative charge. Any idea what could cause that? Anyone have any ideas?

Does anyone know what these are:
http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/5466/psone1cc.th.jpg

They each say 20 on the top...are they capacitors?

Also, if someone has a multimeter and a psone motherboard can you check and see if there is continuity between the 2 sides of the one closest to the C in ...

Fried PSOne

Ok, I was jumping the 2 pins to turn on the psone (the push button has 4 pins but only 2 are actually used) and I think I also touched ground. So the 2 pins to turn the psone on got tied to ground....I think, and it no longer works. when I try to turn it on the lcd goes darker then when the psone is ...

Contrast Adjustment Switch

Ok, I removed the original buttons that adjusted contrast and volume to wire them to switches that I could mount on the case. I soldered a wire to one of the contacts (where the original switch was) on the circuit board and put hot glue over it to secure it. I needed to remove it and I didn't feel ...

timmeh87: is this the thread you were referring to? http://benheck.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=8402 If it is, I am not really having the same problem. I don't have inversion of colors and it works perfectly fine with the ac adaptor. It just doesn't seem to be getting enough power to boot when run on ...

Actually it might be the led mod that is causing the problem. I added another battery to get 8.4V and it boots farther then it does with 7.2V. If I remember correctly the led's I got were 3.5V so maybe the overall setup isn't drawing as much voltage which would result in it not drawing as much ...

I am draining them because they are brand new and NI-MH batteries that have not been used in a while or are brand new don't fully charge until they have gone through a few cycles.

Draining batteries

I want to drain some NI-MH batteries to run them thought a few cycles so they will accept full charge. Can I just stick them in a battery holder and connect the + and - with a resistor in between? If so, what ohm resistor should I use to drain it? (7.2V total: 6 AA 1.2v 2500mAh in series). Thanks.

I dont think the led's are causing the problem: I disconnected the leds from the lcd circuit power and wired them to a seperate set of batteries and ran the psone and lcd on another set. It still doesn't work (actually it doesnt even finish booting now, it trys, starts playing the playstation boot ...

Battery Power

I am trying to run the psone and lcd on 6 AA NiMH 2500mAh batteries. The lcd has the led mod (6 leds). The playstation boots up and works but the screen is wavy. I don't understand why. When I run it with the AC adaptor and measure the current draw it doesn't go over 1.3A and is usually 1A or less ...

Yes, they are NiMh batteries (1.25V).
The multimeter measures a brand new akaline 9V at 9.57V. Does that sound correct?

There are only 6 batteries. A single battery is giving me 1.36V. Unfortunatly, I don't have another multimeter. Do you think it could be the extra voltage that's making the system not work?

Ok, maybe I will build a charger. I just tested the batteries with my setup and they arn't working properly. They actually are providing 8.2V, is that too much for the psone and psone lcd? When I power it from the batteries, the backlight of the lcd turns on and then it starts flashing and the psone ...

The only thing about wiring 2 groups of 3 in parallel is that all of the batteries need to be wired in series so i get a total 7.5 volts. 2 groups of 3 in parallel would only give me 3.75 volts.
