Thanks Tibia! Recessing the bulbs into the rubber caps did improve things. I have a little more light on the front of the screen and the bright spots are a little smaller as well!

I've got a non-functioning TI-83 Plus. It's a shame, it was a nice calc, I think its memory became corrupted when the backup battery died (TI claims that can happen?). If anyone knows the scoop on that, BTW, or has a repair suggestion, I'm open.

That is fantastic! A lot of history stocked up there. Anything obvious you are missing? There's so much for the eyes to sift through it's like where's waldo trying to figure that out for oneself.

So I completed this mod last night on one of my systems. I went with two 5mm 3.3V white LEDs from radioshack and a 39ohm resistor. Otherwise I followed Tibia's guidelines step by step.

Nice! What voltage range is acceptable for the LEDs in this mod? I'm looking into some very wide angle ones which might have more diffuse lighting, but I think their range is 3-3.2 V (as opposed to the 3.3V ones you used). Maybe it doesn't matter at that level... I assume the bulbs don't get pushed ...

I haven't done it yet myself, but my thinking is as follows: the wide-angle bulb would probably give more uniform lighting behind all parts of the screen, because you have a good spread of light coming from the bulbs, but also might have more intense light directly above the bulbs. I imagine at the ...
