Optional / Required Equipment

Sony Info lithium battery Type "L"

The power source for the Atari. I suggest the NP-F550, it will give you around 2 hours of time. Not leaving it on the full 2 hours also helps the battery last longer, since things don't heat up as much. This battery 'clips' onto the back of the unit so batteries larger in size than the NP-550 will fit, if you have a NP-960 laying around ;)

   Infolithium Battery Charger

If you're using rechargeable batteries, you'll need a charger for them. A unit such as pictured works fine, it's an Ambico model V-0916. Most electronics stores have these, although I'd highly recommend searching eBay, as you can often find battery/charger combos being sold for $30 or less.

If you own a Sony Mavica digital camera, or pretty much any Sony DV, Hi-8 or Digital 8 camera built after 1999 or so, you've already got the battery & charger you need.

   Wall power adapter

To run the Atari off wall power, you need a power adapter that has a 1/8 mini-jack plug (looks like a mono headphone jack) set to center pole positive and can do 1000ma current at 9 volts. Standard Atari power adapters do not always have enough juice to run the screen portion of a VCSp, thus you need a 1000ma power supply.

Please note, running the Atari off the wall adapter does NOT recharge the battery. You'll need a separate charger for that.

   Audio / Video out cable

When you get tired of your Ultra Dream cube X-Pluto Wonder Mega Swan-Drive 2000 Advance and want to play a REAL game system at home, use the A/V out function of the VCSp! You'll need a Y-Adapter audio cable as pictured above. With a 3-connector mini plug on one end (like stereo headphones) and 2 RCA plugs on the other. These cables are available at Radio Shack, the part # is 42-2475A
