Benheck.com Podcast Episode 53

We’re back, and on time even, with our latest podcast!

In this white-knuckle episode we discuss the onslaught of movie remakes coming down the pike, specifically focusing on “Romaning the Stone”, which apparently wasn’t good enough the first time around. We also discuss movies that they should try remaking, and ones they better not even think about.

Should this be remade? Discuss!

Our second topic is “Games that were ahead of their time” in which we discuss games that were, well, ahead of their time, and/or contained features that didn’t become standard until much later. Download Movies Online.

Enjoy!

Benheck.com Podcast Episode 52

Possibly one of the cheesiest graphics ever on Benheck.com

We’re back with a new podcast. Topics:

  • New Xbox X-Perience – We discuss the latest and greatest Xbox dashboard update, what we like and dislike.
  • Xbox 360 4 America – Regarding the current America economic downturn, we go patriotic and tell everyone that if they need to buy a game console this Christmas, they should buy the only American one – the Xbox 360! This really isn’t rocket science, people shouldn’t complain about the job market while walking out of Target with a Japanese Wii. We aren’t paid to promote the Xbox, and it’s nothing against Japan (I love my Sony stuff) but hey, at some point you just have to do your part in some way. We also discuss how the vast majority of big hit 360/PS3 games are made in America.
  • Blu-Ray vs the Theater – Having seen several movies now on Blu-Ray that I also saw in the theatre, it begs the question – is Blu-Ray better than the theater experience? At least focus-wise? We discuss!

Podcast includes my brilliant idea to get gas-guzzling SUV’s off the road, and other random topics. Enjoy!

Winner of the Benheck Podcast “Lame Mega Man Robot” Entry

Gus Douboulidis sent in the following entry, his description follows:

Moneymoto Man shoot dollar bills at you and likes to beat you over the head with the wii moto. Weakness – When he hits you 3 times consecutively he turns around and starts counting his endless supply of money.  This is when you need to sneak up on him and hit his wii moto(which is dangling from his arm).  Sending a bolt of electricity through his body, he drops his money and frantically picks up hundreds of dollars… this is your opportunity to shoot at him as much as possible before he realizes he’s getting hit.

I had a couple Wii-centric entries, but I picked this one because it had the best rendered “pixel art”. Congratulations Gus!

In other news, hopefully we’ll get back to our normal podcast schedule soon… though it’s likely we won’t have a new intro until the Christmas special. Regardless, stay tuned! Should have some new projects up in the next few weeks as well.

Benheck Podcast Episode 51

We’re back! In today’s election-themed episode, we discuss how a (the?) Barack Obama win could greatly help Hollywood financially (but not in the ways anyone might think) Fallout 3 (um, since it takes place in Washington DC?) and Dead Space, which is awesome.

We also discuss how action movies have changed over the decades based off administrations and the possible reasons, the Republican link to great action movies, plus a retrospective on our making of Possumus Man. Enjoy!

Benheck.com Podcast Episode 50

It’s time for another podcast! Yes, we haven’t been keeping up the normal 2 week schedule but hey, there’s a lot of stuff going on, and we don’t get paid to do the podcast, so unfortunately it sometimes becomes a backburner item.

In this thrilling episode we discuss Apple VS Microsoft, Laptops VS Desktops, and – believe it or not – POLITICS! With all the hubbub going on with the banking bailouts and the election we just couldn’t resist…

Plus an awesome contest, in honor of Mega Man 9 –Design the lamest Mega Man villain robot ever!

  • Must include artwork, the primary weapon and their main weakness.
  • Bonus points for making an 8-bit accurate “pixelated” version.
  • Even more bonus points for using an existing item ending in “man” as the name. Such as “Congress Man” (prints money to shoot at you) or “Leslie Man” (emits vomit on Steve Carrell).
  • Contest ends upon publication of the next podcast (roughly 2 to 3 weeks).

The 2 best entries will win a Guitar Hero III wireless guitar with a custom Benheck.com faceplate! I have a bunch of these left over from the foot pedal project, so I figured why not unload a few? You can even choose Xbox 360 or PS3 version!

Obviously the coolest thing evah

Email your entries using this link. Good luck and enjoy!

Benheck.com Podcast Episode 49

In this thrilling episode we have 2 main topics:

Topic 1 regards the balance between video game difficulty/length/price. 18 years ago (has it been that long?) we were paying $50 for a game that could be beat in half an hour. Now people think $15 for Castle Crashers or Braid is too much. New games now run $60, but cost 10 times as much to produce as $50 games did during the 16-bit era. At what point did the perception change?

"From the creators of SHAQ FU comes Steel Begins!"
It’ll happen. Just wait.

Topic 2 involves movies once again, specifically how the success of revived franchise Indiana Jones and rebooted franchise Batman will probably kill all creativity (what little there was left) in Hollywood for the next 10 years. Just this morning I read Fox is considering a “Daredevil” reboot, so it’s already begun. By 2010 every summer movie will probably involve superheroes, just watch. This of course brings us to a familiar topic of what old movies Hollywood should remake.

Enjoy!
