Custom Noacs?

Post by arfink »

Is there anyone who would be interested in custom NOACS? I know some of the members on this messageboard have been involved in commercial NOAC projects, such as Messiah's noac thing. I got this idea from the BYOAC (Build your own arcade controls) website, where they have special controller interfaces to buy for your arcade machine. My idea would be a NOAC with a 72 pin connector already attached and self-explanitory inputs. Also, no built in games. This would be project ready NOAC PCB which could simply be soldered up and viola! I know, not much potential for profit, especially since the JAP units are so dang cheap, but its an idea.

Well, if you could program an FPGA with the NES logic you'd be good :) FPGAs can be manufactured cheap, but cramming all the circuitry in there is not easy (more impossible.)

The Superjoy III is ultra compact, the pinouts have already been figured out so you can add a 72pin easy, you can disable the built-in games with 1 wire, and it's pretty cheap. I don't think you can get much better than that.

The yobo (sp?) NOAC is about as close to that as you'll get unless you make a huge investment like Play Messiah did.
