How to charge Li-Ion?

I got my hands on a kick ass 7.2V 38.8WH (thats 38,800 mWh!!). Its a Sony Infolithium M class Li-Ion. The buggar is craked open and the batteries and some kind of circuit board exposed. I can rip the batteries off the board with no problem. I just dont know how to charge Li-Ion.

THe battery itself has 3 Pins. I know what the Pos and Neg leads are for, but I have no idea what that 3rd one is for...

I check the N64 Forum and it helped me a little bit. Since I don know squat about the Sony Infolithium system, I dont know how to properly chare these batteries with the circuit thats in the pack itself. It could be some kind of Voltage Level Circuit. I really dont feel like reverse engineerin' the lil' bastid. I also dont know diddley squat about charging batteries in general.

Can you give me some pointers?

hmm... you could probably pick up a sony info-lithium charger for fairly cheap. I'm pretty sure the 3rd pin is the battery monitor.

I havent seen any cheap InfoLithium Chargers in stores. As for the 3rd pin, thats whatI assuming it is for. I have a Sony Camcorder that takes infolithuim, but not the M class battery. I did some tests on it. If the 3rd pin doesnt connect, tge camera complains about not having an InfoLithum Battery. Perhaps its a charging circuit/level monitor AND a security dongle so you cant use 3rd party batteries on Sony cameras.... but I have seen 3rd party batteries. hummm...

I have no objection to ripping that board off and using the batteries.

i gat a cheap charger it was $40 in australia and it does all brands i will have a look at it later for you

Can I use a Ni-Cad/Ni-MH charger that has the same voltage rating? Ive got one of those Radio Shack 9.6V batteries and charger....
