Quick battery question

ok, i am using an RC car Battery, like the ones you can pick up at radio shack. But I was wondering if i need a circuit protector if im just unplugging the battery to charge it, like into a AC adapter. I was thinking i wouldn't need one, but im a noob and i should most likely ask before i blow myself up. It is a 7.2V 2100 MAh Rc battery liek I said, Ni-MH Battery. Ask if you need more info.

NiMH is the exact same thing as most rechargeable AA's, so no protection circuit needed.

Show me a picture and I can answer that question. You DO need one, but there's a chance it already has one.

i cant touch a camera. against probation.

it does have a circuit on it, but as near as i can tell, its made to output 3 different voltages. the battery is off a phillips pet1002 portable dvd player, by the way.

i would, but it would be in the case, which wouldnt show anyone anything. ive got it out of the plastic thing. its six cells, and i think they are 3.6 volt cells, wired by 2's then in series between the six.

That's what a battery charger is for. It has the protection for that built in. Li-ion batteries really need a protection circuit to prevent overdischarging.

While we're here talking about batteries, I'm a noob, but I'm beginning a SNESp build, and my dad has some spare batteries lying around. They say 6V4.5AH on the front. Could I use this as a power source for my SNESp?

No, you'd need either 5v batteries or 7v batteries unless you want to use a step up regulator.
