my computer won't boot

My computer won't boot. I was trying to install Windows 7, and I was in the BIOS, trying to get my computer to recognize an 8 GB HDD. Completely stupidly, I enabled the OS/2 > 64MB option or whatever that is without knowing what it did (never fix what isn't a problem!). I saved my changes, and it shut down. I pressed the power button, and it started for a millisecond, then stopped. Now it doesn't seem to do anything at all.

I then tried to clear the BIOS, but that didn't do anything either.

Please help!

My suggestion would be to pop in a second hard drive, then run your install again on the hard drive you originally used. But I'm not positive if this will work. Im thinking that your hard drive may have screwed up the BIOS and that another one may react different. Although, I'm not the most experienced person here, this is my idea.

Unplug it and either remove the CMOS battery or set the "Clear CMOS" jumper.

changing a setting (as long as it's not overclocking) shouldn't cause it to not post (if that's what your problem is). Also try pulling the HDD out, if you haven't already.

Threw the reset switch on my surge protector, then tried to restart. It ran for about a second and then shut off. A few seconds later, it started up.

Now it's not getting to POST, instead giving me a message that says Floppy Disk(s) Fail (40).

Edit: Just disabled the 3.5" floppy in BIOS that was throwing the error - I'm back in business. Thanks all for your help!
