Xbox 360 Read errors

Ok this is more for my friend.

Well his 360 will load game VERY infrequently, the only game he can get to load is Crackdown, but the game is very glitchy (Things load very slow, some cars are invisible, bridges Dissapper.)

and he said he just put in Halo 2, and made the grinding noice like when you move the 360 from verticle to horizontle and Vice versa, and scratched up his halo 2 and he didnt move the 360.

Any Idea what the problem is? I told him its probably his drive dieing on him.

Sounds like the laser is dieing.

He says it plays audio CDs play fine, but every 360 game besides crackdown, all have a screen that pops up on the Dash board of the 360 and says to put it in a 360 game console and it is.

and he said that when he took the Harddrive and then started playing Crackdown, it stopped being glitchy, but still other games wouldnt load.
