Go to a real store that isn't run by morons. Target isn't the first place I would go for any type of clothing... or anything for that matter. But if that's all you have out there, to each his own.

* marijuana is illegal and not allowed in the MGC suite, assuming it is done again. Those found with the stuff will be kicked out of the room and not allowed back in. Just gotta be clear.

No it wasn't our first time seeing snow. It is just kinda rare for us. That was the first time I had seen snow in 10 years.

Haha, CTfan lives in Michigan, and no; I visit the snow often. I'm just not drenched with it.

I have been in discussing with Dan Loosen regarding the 2009 Midwest Gaming Classic, and we have decided to create a new portion of the show called "The Benheck.com Experience" (BHE) which will run the entire time of the show from Saturday-Sunday, March 21-22 2009 at the Oylmpia Resort in Oconomowoc, WI.

Tentatively this will be located in the Museum area and will consist of a few tables to however many are necessary. The basic idea is to encourage Benheck.com forum members (many of whom already go every year) to bring their own creations to share with the event guests in unified location. This makes it more about the modding community rather than just Ben Heckendorn.

Aside from this basic purpose the area will also be host to a variety of sub-events, with current ideas consisting of:

--Real-time modding: Watch and perhaps even help as Ben Heckendorn and other Benheck.com affiliates create a custom mod during the show. The resulting product will then be sold either at the end or on eBay.

--On-location podcasts: Join the debate with Ben Heckendorn and Jason Jones as they do podcasts "on-location", and accept guest stars to discuss topics or perhaps ask us questions.

--Special Presentations: Modders, even those not associated with benheck.com, can bring their work and schedule a time slot to have a discussion panel at the BHE. These will be determined ahead of time so please contact us to get in there.

--Modding Requests: Want something built? Discuss ideas with the forum members and see if perhaps someone can help you. Brainstorm with them and come up with cool ideas.



OK that is like the boring, press-release version. But yes, this is the basic idea Dan and I have been discussing. He said he'd give us some space probably in the museum near where the Wii was last year and we could use that for whatever.

Originally he asked if I wanted to speak again, I said sure but wondered if he was open to ideas and then I came up with BHE, to which he was very receptive.

Listed above were the basic ideas we had, but I am opening this topic so we can think of all sorts of cool stuff. Bring your creations, show them, sell them, modding demos, trivia quiz shows, whatever. We could set up more chairs/space for demonstrations, panels, anything you can think of.

Also we CAN solder/mod/whatever right there, as long as we have drop clothes/precautions etc and kids can't grab the irons. A great side benefit is you can bring whatever you want to the show (all the mods in the world) and have a safe place to "rest" them while you enjoy all the other sites.

Unlike last year where I had to run off for my sister's last minute wedding I plan to be there both days and I'd hope this would encourage any of you coming to stay as long as possible as well.

More or less [BHE] is for the forum members to "have a voice" at the show so by all means, let's hear your ideas! Also Dan is letting us do this free of charge, which is very nice of him. And I think it's far better than just my usual speech/slideshow.

Also the main Midwest Gaming Classic site would have a subsection dedicated to the BHE, so we might need a webmaster for that. Volunteers?

For the BHE we'd need a few people to be at the table at all times, but I'm sure enough people are coming that it would be easy to rotate out. I would hope this slight "duty" would be worth it since you'll all have a place to showcase your mods.

im totally down with this idea! count me in 100% and im sure i speak for at least most of the crew from last year when i say that! assuming i can bust ass and get some stuff done i should have at least 2 portables to show off

one question tho, will we be allowed to sell stuff or would a vendors table still be required to do that? can we get name badges?

i should have the GCP (OMG FINALLY), DCSNES and possibly one new portable done by that time!
