Hey guys what if I gave you the Classicgaming.com/vcsp site? Or set you up a new one there?
Apparently they're planning a relaunch of Classicgaming.com and the IGN guy emailed me and asked if I wanted to keep /vcsp, since it hasn't been maintained in a few years. Right now it looks like it might go bye-bye, but the guy doesn't want to delete sites if he doesn't have to.
SO what if I set it up so you guys could use it as your retro site? We could make it a sister site, give it some Ben-branding to increase hits, and I'd even be willing to setup the style (probably Wordpress). It'd be cool to make it look like it already does. Then we could make FTP accounts for whomever wants in, so you all could take it from there.
What do you say?

Don't use MS Web Developer! You need active server pages plugins (and possibly a MS IIS server) to use that! Go with something based around actual standards like PHP and SQL. (Wordpress, Joombla, and PHP-Nuke all come to mind...)
If you guys need designs, there are some nice free ones here:
http://www.oswd.org/
(They're all standard HTML with CSS files.)
If you want I can come up with a quick design but if you want actual code it won't be free. (Free time is limited lately.) At most the fee would be a Mr. Accessory in Kingdom of Loathing...

So would it just be reviews of retro consoles/games or would we do other things like submit articles about views on newer games, current affairs in the gaming world, Guides to games etc? Or like we could have special group articles were we all comment on certain topic like "Most annoying boss battle" or "Worst games of all time".
Just kicking ideas arround here.

Hmmmm that sounds like a good first article. Just thinking will this be a place we can share our knowledge with the readers for example we could write articles on modding old consoles, building arcade machines and stuff of that sort. I mean offcourse the stuff has to be retro/videogame related somehow. Rather than the site just be a review site. It could be a site filled with a wealth of information, reviews, consoles.
Another idea (As these are just ideas) is we could perhaps have a gallery of retro games and the like owned by us lot.

yeah of course this wont just be a review site or a "my favorite games site" otherwise we would be filled with with reviews of chronno trigger and people saying its there favorite game ever. For example my friend fernando is going to write an article about why he hates final fantasy 7 and why the the previous one were better. Well hopefully have a modding section or have an article about "breathing life into an old console" or whatever. The gallery idea sounds dumb, but elaborate on it Im probably wrong. What I think would be really cool to have later on is to format old articles to be read on an iPod through notes or through something of the sort, for those times when you want something to read but all you have is your iPod. Im thinking we wont cover any of the current gen games wether theyre 2d or not, just for the sake of being different. Im thinking the farthest well go up to, in terms of consoles, is the dreamcast and a game wont be covered unless its 2d or uses a superfx chip or whatever the genesis equivelant is. So ill get typing on my "why retro gaming article"
