Oh yes, meant to mention stephen0205, you mentioned about the strength of the plastic in the cases - I used 2mm plasticard (known as styrene in the USA), which naturally becomes thinner as you stretch it over a mold, so ends up just under 1mm in some places, about 1.5mm in most places. The shapes I made the mold however means the plastic is formed into a strong structure. The only weak area is for the case backing on the long edges (top and bottom), however, using some perspex inside, the case becomes rigid and properly supported and resists flexing virtually entirely.

I am working on my Turbo Grafx project at the moment; progress is good but slow - working out what wires can be cut and the board areas to trim - the traces on the wiring are the slimmest I have come across!

the speakers have been trimmed, really not hard, waiting for my bro to come back from b&q with the sand paper now

anyhow some pics of the speakers trimmed (still to sand, make it all smooth like





and some pics of the ps1 case trimmed, wow this was a baw, my dremel is uber crap, so it took like nearly an hour and a half for this just to cut it out, but none the less, all done. Once i got it out i used the sanding drum on the dremel to make it all level , well as best i could then my brother came back with sandpaper (YAY ) and i sanded it all nice and smooth, a few little notches here and there but im quite chuffed with it.

Don't worry about any scuffs on the outside of the CD cutout as you won't see them anyway, only the inside.

The stages are not hard at all, as I documented it all thoroughly. The only hard parts of the project are soldering 16 wires to the controller board in a space of 17mm (not hard, but relative); and also the shoulder buttons - but using other types of buttons would make it far easier - the PSone shoulder buttons are especially hard to put in a case - and also of course with my revised bit about mounting the shoulder buttons and joysticks together, that part which was hard and fiddly is actually now really straightforward and quite easy.

well i only got one more thing done, i managed to trim the controller, think it needs sanded down a little more tho, to make it slimer, either way its all i can do for today, i have work in a few hours, but ill have more time on saturday to get some more done.

Oh before i forget, the ps1 controller, for the r1, l1 buttons, could i not bondo them together then cut it out, cut a hole in the case and have them sticking out a little, then use some plexi glass to hold the tack switch in place, that way there is room, and it all fits, just means the case wont be even, here is a less than suitable drawing to demonstrate what i mean, very basic btw

mmmmm guessing by that post i recon u want it what color ?????...........blue was it........im joshing, yeah i was thinking like a blood colored red, or a wine red, basicly the same i guess, but yeah darek red sounds kl,

Yes, if you want red, the brushed aluminium red looks nice (like on the car pic above).

In regards to the d-pad and 4 button pad, sand those right down; you need to take about 1mm off the plastic top; so when they rest in the case; you gain the 1mm back from the thickness of the plastic case; so the buttons stick out the same amount as they did before - or you can hack out a hole and bondo the controller bits in, however I wouldn't recommend that as it will weaken the structure and take you ages to sand the level flat and smooth - I suggest you do the method I mentioned (and also in the guide).

Before you finalise the shoulder buttons, make sure the joystick will fit in position properly and work around it - perhaps stick it in place with blu-tac or similar while evaluating.

well thats all for today, out of time, didnt get what i wanted done tho, but i did make some progress, think on saturday ill take a little trip to b and q and get some paint.

Cut the front all up, decide and mount where the shoulder buttons will go, and paint that sucker.

i hope i can get all the case work done on saturday, all cut , all painted, and that should be me for the case.

Just need to find time to wire up the scree, make sure that works, then wire up the controller, then the battery and i should , SHOULD be good to go

so u like my idea for the shoulder buttons then ????

i like the bottom one, im only putting 2 battaries in this not 3.

If i need other ones could u maybe point me in the direction of some, im not hesitant of buying from ebay or anyone here as long as its paypal

Those should work, they're both the right voltage. I'd go for the top one myself, more mAH and cheaper.
