My dad was anti game, like Jack Thompson. But then I showed him GOOD games, like Acecombat, SOCOM, Halo. He obliged they aren't sooo bad as he thought. Now one year later Jack Thompson comes out. My dad hates GTA period, and the whole hot coffee increased his hatred, but he's still open minded about video games. My dad is on with him on GTA, but total game ban, he spit on him, well a pic anyway. :)

it appers this guy thinks vice city is a cop killer-training game??? since when did people tell us to go out and buy it so we could kill cops? I mean even if you play violent video games, doesn't mean your going to go out and kill a cop, I think only people with no common since would follow video games like there real, I mean I can understand (well sorf of) those geeks and nerds who dress up as final fantsy characters or even, well, megaman, but actally killing someone? I mean who told them too? gosh, this guy is a moron that went to law school.....

I can see why they are distancing themselves from him, he's not only making himself lookbad hes making everyone against violent games look bad. Its one thing to be against violent games but his "Modest Proposal" was ridiculous that defeats the purpose of what he is doing.

this sounds like a last ditch effort by some greedy lawyer to attack video games to make some extra money. like the democrats jumping on san andreas to pursuade conservatives to vote democrat (and i am a democrat just stateing the facts) and you usually die when you kill the cops in gta :?

Wow. What a wuss.

Come on, did Clinton write a letter every time somebody made a Monica Lewinski joke on TV? Does Bush throw a fit every time somebody rips on him? This is like Sean Penn's Variety ad condemning the makes of "Team America"

I won't get political or anything but it's the ongoing search for blame beyond human nature. Some people can't accept the fact that human beings can be evil and do bad things by choice. No! It must be something else's fault. TV? Videogames? Movies? Guns?

People have killed each other since the dawn of time. I bet Cain didn't play GTA before doing away with Abel...

The ironic thing is the free-spirit carnage SIMULATION of GTA is why it's so popular.

You know I played Perfect Dark a lot on the N64 but I never went to Nevada and shot up government agents.

Ok, so video games teach kids to be violent? Uh-huh, riiiight...

So you'd better keep them away from the TV, the internet, their peers, adults, slums, NYC, auto accidents... aww hell just throw them in a copulating plastic bubble and leave them in their rooms forever.

Seriously, there's no wy to isolate kids from violence. Besides, who in their right mids buys GTA:VC for a kid anyways? That's what the ESRB is for!

They aren't just pretty decorations!

BTW this is what the ESRB would probably rate him, and all the parents who buy Mature games for their fourth-graders:

:P ZING!

I know that's kind of a "sensitive" word, but I thought it applied in this case. Seriously. "Video games cause violence"... bullexcrement! I played video games a lot when I was younger, and I have absolutely no inclination to eat ghosts, swing over crocodiles, run across the freeway, fly around the city in a taxi, or jump on people to smoosh them. :P

The gaming industry doesn't make the kids play the games, the parents buy the games for them! So where's the problem? WITH THE PARENTS! If they were a bit more savvy with the ESRB, and didn't get the kids anything they want, then there would be less of this "problem". I mean when my folks bought a Playstation in 1995, they knew the games were rated, and they followed the ratings. I only had K-A games until I was old enough to handle all T games. (Though I did have Road Rash, but that was just racing, not really a lot of violence when you drive the bike properly! :P)

To this day I still don't have any M games, even though I could walk down to Gamestoip and buy them myself. I'm just not interested. I don't need GTA, I've got Gran Turismo 3 and Driver 3 and NASCAR 2005. (I suck at combat/shooting games, but I "pwn" [as they say] my friends at racing! :P)
