How exclusive should the LPC be?

Very much so. This is a place for the best of the best.

i think a system with multi star ratings would be good, like up to three bronze and 2 silver one bronze for what gamey said, 2 for someone who is very knoweldegable but has only been a beenheck member for a while and has at least attempted one portable. 3 bronze star for someone who has been a member for more than, lets say 6months, has attempted, but not finished, more than one portable and has a lot of knolwedge.

its an idea, and certianly can be modified or expanded on :D

But what would the quilifications be for it, mod a system? I'm not being mean I'm just courious as to how you would become a member.
And I dont think being a member of this forum would work. We already have people here that are quite experianced and knowlegeable.
im not saying im not a noob, cause I am. im only about 1/4 the way done with my first portable

You should only be allowed in if you complete a decent portable (gluing the system to a controller and a screen doesn't count, you have to take stuff apart at LEAST).

hmm, I think I get what you're saying: have black/bronze/silver/gold for what you've done, and number of stars for how well you did it? That could work :D

Change out the stars for VCSp's. The 1 star having the original VCSp, and the top rank having a Gold or oak-version.

Personally I wish we could use the military style rank system they had a G.com. After a while it went to quality of post, as apossed to quanity. If we even tried it I'd say people that didnt have portable were inlisted, the more experiance and portables you have your an officer and that can go up to Lueitenient General as General is reserved for Ben. (Just a though)

But if we were sticking to something like bicostp, we work off of metals. Ofcourse I dont know of any thing other then the U.S. metals so cant help you.

I think using Ben's VCSps is a good idea, Ben would be the Vagabond 2000 (the super-un-achieveable rank), senior builders like Gamelver could be the VCSp Gold, then it follows down from Vagabond '03, VCSp special edition, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. What would we make the Phoenix though…

All right I guess I should comment on this...

I really like the idea of a rating system. That way people have some thing too look forward too when they make a portable, and the better they make it the better the rank.

So I think exclusive sounds good... it's not like it's even that hard to make a portable. There is a ton of info, all you have to do is make the thing.

It should be more related on If you could do it on your own, or if you had to look to the book, or the forums every 5 minues to ask what to do. I personally would not like to use the book, because It seems like its a list of instructions, rather than something to give you a chance at figuring out how to make things work. When I started out, I made the NESP in a month by myself. I felt good that I didnt really get any help for it.(Except for expenses....)

So, Not only should it be about how many portables you've made, but how you used other people to complete them, and how much of your ideas went into it.

Since I started my portable I try to do figure out every thing on my own, I only look at the book to see what wires go were. Im almost done with my portable I just have to buy the screen, wire the controller (it would be done by now but both gamestop and Eb Games are out...I think I bought every one), and put it all in the case.

Usernames (besides the obvious) deleted to prevent "hey [insert name here] I see you're a tester for doomportables! Can you tell me how to get in?" Hope you guys like it :)
