As for the OP,
This is your first project and you've set an unrealistic goal. Normally, this would not be a reason to flame you, we'd tell you it's impossible, and you'd set a more realistic goal, OR provide some evidence/concepts that prove you might be able to do it. You have done neither, you insisted it was possible without specifying how, it comes off as uninformed, impolite and ignorant.

Oh god, I can't stop laughing. Just because you can imagine it doesn't make it possible. I can imagine a PS2 implanted in my brain so that when I close my eyes I can play it, but that doesn't mean it's even remotely possible.
You can't even type a complete sentence that's understandable. Good luck redesigning a console. I think you'll really need it.

@lburna95- If you tried to redesign the ps2 board to fit in a ps2 shell, you would spend an insane amount of money on it. Instead, maybe you could vac-form a bigger case that looks similar to that of a psp. Then put a ps2 portable in that? It woul be much more resonable to do that.

You've contradicted yourself here. Why should any of us believe you when you can't even type a statement that makes sense? You said that it is the very first form of electronics you've messed with. This proves part of my first post in this thread:lburna95 wrote:I still don't understand why you think I have to cram everything together? Look I'm not a complete moron if that is what you think. The system is going to be designed completely different.I've already mentioned this awhile ago the PS2 slim mobo is not going to be used, and even when your mind is set on a slim PS2 mobo being the smallest thing ever created it can be created even smaller. You know what I think and this is just a guess, but you probably think I'm trying to squeeze the same design into something smaller.I plan on recreating my own design and building it from scratch.Honestly I think you take me for an idiot Valium, and this is the very first form of electronics I've messed with.I might be considered a newbie on here by my post count and you might see me that way,but my knowledge on electronics is very strong.Sorry buddy, but keep doubting this project as it gives me more motivation.
gamefreakfatty wrote:You said that this will be your first electronic project, yet you claim to be very skilled in the field.
You have given him no reason to say it can be done. Give us a description of how you're going to do it. You don't need to be specific. We just want to know what route you're planning on taking for this. Are you going to use different chips with your PCB? Are you going to use actual PS2 (fat or slim) chips with your PCB? We don't need anything big, just an idea of how you plan to accomplish this task.lburna95 wrote:Sorry Valium I'm not going to explain everything to you,and the fact is you would still say it can't be done even if I did.Your mind is set on the PS2 slim mobo, and that is not what I'm working on.The 95 in my username is just a number which doesn't mean anything.I was born in 84 and the reason I used that quote is because you all are going off what you know.I've seen all the revisions of the PS2 motherboards from PS2 fat systems to PS2 slims, and it won't use anything like it.The way its looking I don't want your help or need it,as I'm capable of doing it on my own.On another note I'm wasting my time even talking on here, because not even one of you besides 64M320N3 and Electric Rain has even offered any help.
How do you plan on accomplishing anything if you don't plan on using anything from an actual PS2? You did say that emulation is not the route you are headed:lburna95 wrote:Sorry Valium I'm not going to explain everything to you,and the fact is you would still say it can't be done even if I did.Your mind is set on the PS2 slim mobo, and that is not what I'm working on.The 95 in my username is just a number which doesn't mean anything.I was born in 84 and the reason I used that quote is because you all are going off what you know.I've seen all the revisions of the PS2 motherboards from PS2 fat systems to PS2 slims, and it won't use anything like it.The way its looking I don't want your help or need it,as I'm capable of doing it on my own.On another note I'm wasting my time even talking on here, because not even one of you besides 64M320N3 and Electric Rain has even offered any help.

P.S.
Sorry for using so many quotes. It was the easiest way for me to get the point through and make it easy for people to know where the responses are referencing from, especially if he edits his posts.

I must be doing something right if this is the sites main attraction.I'm guessing your worried I might actually accomplish the impossible. If its impossible then why do you all insist on wasting your time reading and responding to everything I write.Hopefully you all can get a grip with reality, and maybe do something to make yourself better instead of living off a forum. If what I say is so tragic you gotta eat, sleep, and breathe off this forum then something is wrong with you.You would be doing this site and everybody else a big favor by closing it or letting it die,not responding to it which won't amount to crap.I think voice of reason or common sense should tell you all that, but the truth is somebody has to get the last word in or they are not satisfied.I will give you all that chance right now say what you gotta say, because I'm done with this site and have been for a long time. Its only a matter of time until you bore yourself posting to a thread that amounts to nothing.

Agreed. It's like watching a crappy TV show, only with just text, and somehow it just happens to be real people.Tibia wrote:I keep reading because I don't have cable and you're entertaining as hell. I believe the PS2 can be made smaller with a redesign, I don't believe it can be fit in a PSP complete with screen batteries and controls. I don't believe this is a good project to take as a first one (it is your first one, you said so yourself.)
But by all means, prove us wrong. I'd gladly apologize and applaud to your success if you could do this, probably even if you can't quite fit it in a PSP. I think I speak for all of us when I say we'd like you to succeed, but we are sure you won't.
You've turned down the people that offered help and instead chose to focus on those who criticized you, and you're not being very mature about it otherwise. Go ahead, build that portable, prove us wrong.

Ive been reading, but i really hate getting involved in flame wars. But dude, you really are pathetic.
Seriously, you've been offered help, schematics(which i can provide too) and an incentive to shut a few mouths. But, all we get is the old classic, 'well if you dont believe me im never coming back ever again'. Do you know how childish and pathetic that sounds.
Also, your not gonna get this project off the ground using any old PCB manufacturer are you? The PSP already uses a 6 layer PCB, so I would imagine the PS2 would be there abouts too(£££££££££££££££££££). Also, if you merely just desoldered the components fromthe ps2 board, they'd still struggle for room, not to mention heat, batteries(about 2 amps), controller, lcd driver, etc.
Seriously, grow up.
