The edges are thinner, that makes up for the added size down the middle, where you say "the entire thing is base-thickness", which is BS. It's height, and depth is lower than a regular DS when open. The edges are thinner than a regular DS which makes up for a lot of the size lost on the back of the DS screen. This IS smaller than the original DS.illustriouschin wrote:Technically it is larger than the original DS because the screen portion is thinner on the original while the entire thing is base-thickness on your case.

Because of the stylus holder, the battery compartment turned out wonky... no big deal though.
I didn't use the fibreglassed piece in the end.. That fell to crap, i really could have done with a flat surface to create that with, it ended up being too much work.
This week I'll:
1. Fit the internals and make sure it all fits OK.
2. Cut an opening for the shoulder buttons.
3. Fill and prime the shoulder button sections.
4. apply the Final coats of spray paint in Silver.

Neither did the original DS.. DS lite does though, and I'll probably use this more..Gamelver wrote:Looking pretty nice so far.
though it may be thinner, it doesn't look like it'll fit in a pocket now....
I might use this one for a DS Robot in the end.

Same here, but I like ridiculously large pockets that can fit a DS, GBA SP, GP2X, and a TI-84. (Guess what really goes on at math contests?Jongamer wrote:whatcha talkin' about, DS phats fit in my pockets fine.EnterTheHatrix wrote:Neither did the original DS.. Depends on what pocket we're talking about.. Coat pocket, yeah my DS fit, but this case fits in too... I can fit a whole DVD box in my pocket. Jeans pocket, not a chance for either of them.
Either way, this project is 100% original.
