When I found out that "Wii" is pronounced as "we", all that came to mind was the French word for "yes".

This has to be the dumbest name ever! Atleast with Revolution its sounds cool, grown up and a change in thinking. All of which Nintendo doesn't want to do apperantly. Seems they've dug themselves that ditch their in just for attracting kids, and they don't want to pull themselves out of it.

I have to say, I though Nintendo could take the second place, hell they had a shot at the first. But with this people are going to be stuck with the GameCube views. So Nintendo either doesn't know how to market to older people or they're just stupid.

Okay, here is what I wrote to Nintendo:

I, along with many other gamers, were very excited when the Revolution was announced. I couldn't wait to use Nintendo's new innovative product, and still remain nostalgic of my older games, seeing as the Rev has multi-system support. However, all that changed today.

Nintendo Wii?!? I can't believe this. The name is just terrible, and everyone else thinks so, too. Just check any of the polls on sites such as IGN.com or gamespot.com. All of them say they hate the name, and so do I. Not only is it stupid sounding, there are also about a billion ways to make fun of it! I thought you guys were finally getting out of your slump; the Revolution presented an idea and name that appealed to all ages, not just kids. However, it seems you just shot yourself in the foot again, just like you shot yourself in the foot by making the N64 a cartridge system or scrapping Sony as your partner back in the'90s, or making "mini discs" for the Gamecube. I was going to get a "Wii", but now I will be purchasing the PS3; I'm making a statement, and many others will, too. I can't believe that Chrono Trigger could EVER be released on a system for a company that names their console the Wii. Now I see why Square Enix ceased supporting you guys. Get ready to read a lot of e-mails like this one.

Thanks (or not),

Man, you're a jackass. Nintendo would never respond to anything like that. All you're talking to is a person who will automatically say "I'm sorry, no."

yeah, it seems like Nintendo wants to bring non-gamers to play the Rev. (ok...Wii...) but with a name like that, I don't know if many older people will!

I, personally, could care less about the name, but I'm thinking of Nintendo's fate here....Hopefully, though, with enough negative support, they'll change it. Perhaps at E3 they'll announce the REAL change of the name :P...
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

They shot themselves in the Wii instead of the foot this time. :D
If I had a choice, I'd gladly shoot my foot instead of my Wii. :D

Woah, pipe down, kid. Actually, mail in the masses has given birth to many company and policy changes. I'm simply voicing my opinion in a clear, concise, organized argument. Unless, of course, you want to play with a console called the Wii  . And by the way, I'd appreciate it if you didn't call me a jackass. You've looked at my statements with a very narrow, closed-minded view and have not fully grasped the concept of democracy. Input must be recieved before change, ya know  ?

The content of the letter recieved is not important. Read above post (duh) . It's about showing Nintendo that their fans are not revieving this new news with open arms. Hopefully they'll get these kinds of emails in the masses, to prove the point.

Sorry, I passed this one up.

That grammar and spelling makes me sick.

When did you ask a question? And they're NEVER going to email you, even if their company depended on it.

Why the copulate would you lose all faith in Nintendo because of a three letter word?

You = overexaggeration.

Why would you not buy a console because of its name? That is quite childish. As others have said, a name is nothing. If you meet anyone with an odd name, are you likely to stop associating with them simply because of that? Of course not.

Hey, I don't like the name much, yet I'm willing to give it a shot. Think about what Sir-Games-A-Lot said about some of the most successful products having weird names. Perhaps it just needs to grow on us a bit.

Oh, and think about the other names for consoles this upcoming generation. We have the Xbox360, which just has a number tacked onto its predecessor's name. Then there's the even less original PS3, which is just their previous console's name, except with a 3. At least Nintendo's taking a risk. After all, isn't that what the Nintendo Wii is about?
