Yeah I got my hands on a copy as well. MY friend was picked by microsoft as a beta tester. Build 5308 is the one I have. The one thing I dislike about it is the fact that it constantly accesses your hardrive. (It literally sounds like you're doing a defragmentation) Other than that there are the usual bugs I've discovered such as picture slideshows crashing and laggy music when using wmp11. Other than that like I said its pretty cool. IE7 uses those silly tabs I never bothered getting used to.

Sort of off topic but the reason I don't use firefox is because I can't get the forward and back buttons on my mouse to work.(on my pc) on my laptop the touchpad scroll doesnt work so I just stick with IE6.

But yeah I never use firefox because I don't know the shortcuts to switch between and open close tabs

I have a copy, or rather I should say a 6 month trial of it I downloaded from Microsoft. I haven't installed in on my laptop for the same reasons I really don't want to install XP again, no auto detect internet.

Besides I only think the XP 64bit version fits with Intel chips, AMD is backwards compatible so I have no problem running 32bit code on my laptop.

I have no idea why: Windows will not run on Virtual PC. I got 4 versions of Linux working, no luck with Windows 98.

I don't have Virtual PC, and I don't want to break copyright laws and have the athourities on my back, so I downloaded Qemu and managed to get it working. It's on my P3 500 box now, chugging away at Slax Popcorn Edition 5.0.5. I'll set it up on my good PC and try running SuSE 9.1 Live CD or Knoppix on it. (on the P3 box it's rather sluggish, but then again I only designated 128 MB of memory to the emulator...)

Well, VPC2004 has a Service Pack out there you might want to try.

Also, try different methods of install, and different RAM capacities. XD

Plus, a 95/98 Virtual Machine on a 2000/XP box is very good for running DOS apps.
Warranty-Voiding fun!

I'm really worried about what this new OS might do to PC gaming. Supposedly it has a built-in "optimized" program for installing games. But all I hear is "Anti-Copy protection scheme". And what if all the new games start following Halo 2's example and only run on Vista? Forget that! I don't want to be forced to buy a new OS just to play a game that could run fine on what I have now if not for money grubber programmers.
Course with microsoft it's a win/win situation. If they piss off too many PC gamers, they turn to the closest thing for their gaming fix, Xbox 360. So evil.
