Make way for HDTV?

We have the Dish more than 500 channels thing... I myself only watch about 12 different channles: vh1, G4 (when I'm drunk), History, sci fi, comedy central, cartoon network, speed, TNT, TBS and a few others I forget...

The day is coming when you will be able to pay for only the channels (or maybe even shows) that you watch. A media center could download only the shows you watch and save them on a DVR for viewing when and where it's convenient for you. (i.e. late at night in your bed or on your PSP on the bus on your way to work/school) I think AOL is trying to do somethinf close to this now (but I hate them), I can see google doing this and suceeding.

There is no reason to still be stuck with linear programming schedules considering the technology that is available today. Netflix is a step in the right direction, but they are presently still chained by the ankle to physical media.

SCART (over here) is composite, RGB, Audio and sync in 1 cable.


and in currys and Comed they have big signs on some tellys saying HD ready.
