The x200s are pretty nice if you don't mind Intelgrated graphics.

I like my x100e (still waiting on the 4 gig RAM upgrade though ), and apparently they're releasing a refreshed version in a couple months. You might be able to pick one up from the outlet or on clearance pretty cheap! (If you go through the outlet, be careful. Some of them have Radeon 2200 graphics, and the MV-40 is a dog of a CPU. Get an L625 model if you can. The only downside is they're not tablets.

gotta be touchscreen at the very least, wont own a laptop without one. pretty much narrowed down my next laptop to a 1610 lifebook tablet (~225$ on ebay) or an IBM/lenobo X41 tablet (lower specs than the 1610 and basically the same price, but wacom digitizer and sexy IBM-ness) i did consider one of the newer lenovos but i'm too poor for a new computer

I have a P1610, not a bad little computer. You pretty much need a tablet compatible OS (XP tablet, Vista, or 7) for the touchscreen to work. I have 7 on mine. It runs nicely for only have a gig of ram and a 1.2GHz core solo, though I would recommend using readyboost (unless you splurge and get 2GB). Battery life is about 3-4 hours with the extended battery that is who knows how old. It does run on the warm side, but no major complaints. Let me know if you get one.

The 4 gig RAM kit came in today, and it really woke this laptop up. Compared to the stock 1 gig stick, it's like night and day. I really don't recommend running Windows 7 or Vista on anything less than 2 gigs of real RAM. (You can get away with 1 gi on XP SP3.) ReadyBoost makes a difference, but real memory makes a much bigger difference.

Definitely go for the x41 then. Wacom digitizer = do want, IBM/Lenovo utilitarian styling and build quality = very do want. (So much nicer than your average grocery store consumer model...)

Hence the "splurge". I'm only running 7 on it because finding XP tablet is next to impossible.

How do games do on your x100e? I see you're playing L4D2 right now, wouldn't happen to be on the thinkpad, would it? If it can play modern games ok, I might be selling my P1610.

The P1610 would be a better choice if size is a big issue. Here is my P1610 on an x61 (which is a bit smaller than the x41), both with extended batteries.

The touchscreen on the P1610 is great for a resistive, it rejects palm and finger input so it'll only work with a fingernail or stylus and you can even have your hand resting on the screen. It isn't as good as Wacom, of course, but its probably as close as you can get without the real thing.

I was getting about 20 FPS in singleplayer on low, and it dipped into the single digits in multiplayer when 5 boomer hordes spawned at the same time. The refreshed X120e is supposed to be about the same price but have a slightly better CPU and integrated 6250 graphics (x100e has 3200). I don't think I'm running the latest video drivers, for what it's worth.

Portal gets a solid 30 FPS (low w/ med textures), TF2 ran around 25 (low, no special console commands or mods), and Poker Night at the Inventory is generally fluid. I'll probably make a YouTube video of it running different things over the weekend. Judging from reviews, it has about the same gaming performance as the Acer Ferrari One, and a bit better CPU than most ION 2 netbooks. One odd thing I noticed is that it kept forcing multicore rendering off in L4D2, but not TF2.

But beyond gaming performance,I like it a lot better than 10" grocery store netbooks. The keyboard feels solid with nice key travel and no bounce, the 11.6" form factor was practically made for 1366x768, and the entire bottom is an access panel so you're seven screws away from changing any of the internal components. (Two more and the keyboard comes out, allowing access to both sides of the heatsink/fan assembly. The only thing it's really missing is HDMI, which the x120e will have. (I wonder if the motherboards will be interchangeable...)

i loved my everun note, it was just too damn small! (and had pretty mediocre build quality, yay korea or whatever)
the p1610 has better specs (processor especially) than the x41, and a smaller size which i am definitely leaning towards, i LOVED my b2610 and b2630 lifebooks, some of the best laptops i ever owned. the current laptop i am using (borrowed) is a panasonic toughbook CF-T4 which is pretty similar specs to the x41 and 512mb of ram, i dont plan on gaming with my future laptop in any significant amount, and would probably run XP tablet edition (the 1610 comes with it installed, not sure about the x41)

cheap acer d250 with 4 year old cheaper still wacom, the tablet was a good investment. so far the acer isn't tobad. You have to find more ram and change the OS when you get it... but it's got the life span 300 bucks normaly shouldn't. next computer, or next laptop, won't be for checking forums and reading email. The next one, I'd love to have a grant down for the Leveno Tablet. I'm guessing my girl friend and I are going to need some thing relible. I'm sort of sick of carrying my gear around, though some of my best works been done at coffee shops and on my dash board (animation work that is) so I can imagine when that stops we will have a real place to live, then I guess well get some decent machine... right now hat tricks out of a brief case

As of touchscreen computing (ofsorts) I have been looking at tablets for a long while. Wasnt that interested in the ipad for whatever reason, and the galaxy tab too expensive even with contract agreement, so I just picked up the archos 101 tablet. It runs android 2.2 with all the necessary hacks for google apps such as the marketplace, etc. Been playing woith it for a couple hours and im pretty happy with itso far
