I never really got how homeschooling works. I don't think we even have that here in Germany. Care to share it with me?

They actually block google images in my school. Google video works, but images doesn't. Any other google.blah.blah works though.

Either your parent guides you in your studies after taking a course that authorizes them to do so, or they pay tutors to teach you.

It's not necessary in Europe, where the the school systems don't suck The Big One. In the states, you need to either homeschool or go to an international school to get any education worth anything, compared to every other developed country at least.

I go to public school.

What a joke.

Reminds me of one time one of my classmates needed images for a report on World War II. The school's content filter blocked images of guns. So, I showed him how to copy the image URL and copy it off ImageShack using the "Upload from URL" feature.

Can you use Google Translate to get to Google Images? (Or did the firewall companies finally figure out that glaring flaw?)

The school also blocked Hack a Day ('hacking site'), AtariAge ('Prohibited content' wtf?), and YTMND ('pornography and other graphic content'). It did not, however, block Newgrounds, Atom Films, or (as some dumb*** got the Internet disabled for 2 weeks by looking it up found out) a variety of "Rule 34" anime websites.

This was several years ago, before Google Video and YouTube became popular. (Damn it I feel old now.)

In Germany, the government arrests family's who homeschool, no joke. They are afraid that they will form an "Alternate society with no ties to th state". In terms of friendliness towards homeschoolers, Germany is probably the worst of all developed countries (Undeveloped countries just don't care).

Most homeschoolers join a homeschool group, which is a group of people that are homeschooled.

They then either hire tutors, or the qualified parents teach classes. Or, some people have these written out at-home courses, which I hate (They suck).

My arrangement is, because I am signed under a private school with home study option affidavit, I can easily take free city and state college classes for free, getting high school AND college credit at the same time. So by the time I am 18, I will be done with high school AND my first two years of general ed courses in college, allowing me to transfer to UCI for a degree in informatics in only two years.

The reason that public school students can't do this is because, while technically allowable, you need to get your principle to sign off on you taking your courses at a local college. However, he will NOT do it. Know why? Because public schools in the US get paid PER STUDENT, so the fewer classes you take there, the less money the school gets. A real shame.

Theres an applied technology college near me that high school students can go to for free (during or after school, I believe) and get high school credit. Unfortunately, it only counts for elective credit, so if I took an English class there, I'd still have to take one in high school, which is one of the main reasons I just stay at high school.

I haven't tried much to get past the filters. I rarely use the computers at school, so if I got something to work it wouldn't benefit me much. Plus they can watch/take control of your computer remotely, and I don't feel like getting banned from the computers. Unless I could still get on their wifi with my own device...

Wait, your school blocks Gmail? And someone else said they block AOLmail? Thats rediculous. I use gmail ALL the time at school I could never think of a school blocking it.

Our school blocks all email sites that it knows about as well. They want us to use the crummy Groupwise software and send emails that way. It's obnoxious.

Also, one pet peeve of mine is people spelling ridiculous as "rediculous". >_> It's almost as bad as "I could care less".

The only off campus course is called Cosemtology and I do not want to sit in a room for 4 hours learning about lipstick and hair. We don't even have shop due to it being too dangerous. My high school sucks
