soldering help

ok thanks for all the help. one last thing, is there any special way to wire the controller for the portable? im using the board of the original controller that i have cut up and i am having some trouble getting the wires to stay on.

well from what i've seen youve "scratched" traces revealing the metal to solder to correct?

i recommend applying flux to the metal trace (exposed) then tinning your wire. then place the wire on the board and solder it on (using more solder not just the tinned solder) this should get a firm connection, sometimes the exposed trace isnt enough to adhere to so you may have to widen the area.. BE VERY CAREFUL however not to expose a second trace and short it out by connecting em. best of luck to you!

ok thanks for all your help. it will come in handy when i start soldering more tomorrow.
