I haven't been drunk for months... Last New Years, I believe. And we're not the butt of a joke. We're simply the head of an angry mob of Canadians, out to sled over to you and pour maple syrup on your hands so they get all sticky or some stereotype of the sort!

I hate to break it to you, but the only war between the US and Canada, we won. Not only that, but we did it in the name of the monarchy! And we burnt down that little white building in Washington.

Not even close, my friend. Canada wasn't even remotely anything close to a country until the Federal Dominion of Canada was formed in 1867. Heck, it took you guys until 1982 to even get yourselves to be a completely free nation! Just to clarify, if my point hasn't yet been made, the people who attacked us were actually British troops who made encampments in Quebec, making you barely a province at that time. Besides, even if you DO want to count Canada as a country while the War of 1812 took place, "Canada" was allied with the British. Now Hazmat, kind sir, could you please remind me who won the War of 1812? My memory's a bit rusty, I'm afraid. Not positive, but I'm pretty sure it was America.

For future reference, when quoting to a history buff, make sure you're history buffier.

I never said that Canada was a country at the time, and in fact I did say that we fought in the name of the Monarchy, hence implying that we were in fact fighting as Brits.

As far as who won the war of 1812, I'm afraid you are wrong.

We can consider several definitions of "winning".

First of all, we can consider who gained more land.
America: None.
Britain: No American land, bu they did manage to suppress the French holds in Quebec.

We can consider casualties.
America: 2,260
Britian: 1,600

We can consider changes in the political scene.
America:
-Ill will against Britain increased.
Britian
-Ill will against America increased.

So who won?

I would say it wasn't very decisive for anyone.

But then again, American textbooks do like to slant things in the American's favour, so I wouldn't be surprised at you thinking that the Americans had a decisive victory!

P.s. I have triple citizenship: American, Canadian, and British.

Then that would make the people who burned the White House British, not Canadian. Which, as I so aptly stated before, makes your original argument null and void. Saying that "Canadians" burned down the White House in the War of 1812 would be the same as saying that the "French" liberated Germany in World War II.

Britain isn't strangely absent! Canada may be a country, but the Queen of England is the Queen of Canada.

what number of nations do you speak of?

Also, since that point America has stopped expanding (in a pure land sense), apart from a few examples in the south. Which is to say, the land which the Brits saw as important (the northern land) has not been expanded into at all. (Ignoring a small border dispute between Alaska and the NWT).

Ugh, on the topic of game violence idiots, did you hear about those kids who beat a girl to death recently, khagg? These 17 year old guys were drunk, and they claim to have been "re-enacting" Mortal Kombat, and were just "playing", when they killed her. Of course, it's not the fault of the drunk, irresponsible teens, but Mortal Kombat. If only I would have known, I would have stayed away from it as a youngster. Now I'm destined to become a child-beating drunk.

And Hazmat, I'm not even going to bother anymore. It was a valiant attempt on your part, though!
