My Ubuntu Disks are in but scared of installing ubuntu

X? Do you me X11/Xorg, or Xubuntu. If it's the former, it should work as that's what OpenSuSE uses. Might require downloading proper drivers and some configuration but nothing too hard. If it's the latter, well you'll have the same thing to do as I mentioned earlier, only difference is that there might be more drivers to download and install.

OpenSuSE is quite different from anything Debian based. You also have to keep in mind that SuSE comes on a DVD now, while Ubuntu is still a CD, there is a big difference in what is packages as far as basic drivers. Futher I'm not sure if I'd even bother picking up after using 10.1, especially after going through dependency hell to install a program.

Download the ISO or order it from their website, go to shots.osdir.com, and anything is better than Windows ME.

the funny thing is it's a 1.9ghz desktop i built so me rund reeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaly fast.

bicostp is right, linux is a bad choice for a home PC. Running linux doesn't do any good for home users, it's fast, but not user-friendly at all. Hell, even connecting a USB drive took me about 5 minutes of googling. There's a reason everyone uses windows; it's the easiest, and when all I want to do is simple tasks, I don't like having to have to access terminal windows and figure out why mount /dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom doesn't work.
