Well actually, Sony didn't put anybody out of business. Lik-Sang shut it's own operation down after the lawsuits. Sony was actually well within their rights to sue Lik-Sang, as the contract only gave them permission to sell PSPs to the Asian market. Lik-Sang ignored this, and sold to the EU, which was a breach of contract. So Sony (who was only protecting themselves) sued Lik-Sang so they can preserve the profits they would gain on selling PS3s to UK consumers. Now after this Lik-Sang went to release personal information about their customers. I know that a lot of people liked Lik-Sang, but they brought this on themselves, after numorous previous lawsuits, from Nintendo and Microsoft, Sony just happened to be the final nail in the cofin, and therefore is going to take all of the heat for it. It's not fair really, to say that this was Sony's fault, when they were taking rightful legal action against a company that was doing something illegal. You people will take anything that looks bad for Sony, and without actual facts, will run with it. You fanboys make me sick.

So people are fanboys for being mad a Sony? That's ignorancy, you ignorant fanboy.

:P

EDIT: In fact, it's their opinion on whether or not what Sony did was out of monoply. So give it a rest already, we know you love Sony.

Just because I am obsessed with Sony's destruction doesn't make me a fanboy. I am obsessed with Microsoft's destruction, but that is for reasons having nothing to do with video games.

Looks like I'm likely not going to help Sony. They're screwing use over, and really I can't believe they've not even released the PS3 yet. Places like Lik-Sang are sometimes the only place to find rare games/consoles.

I DAMN YOU TO HELL, SONY!!!

Well apparently because I have a valid question about why the wii costs so much in comparison (power and feature wise) to the other consoles, I am a fanboy. So when people yell and throw fits about anything it apparently makes them a fanboy. and no I do not LOVE Sony, I believe that they make quality electronics, and are good at making game consoles, which is why I buy their consoles. In fact, if you look in my room, the only consoles you will find are a Gamecube and an Xbox. I do not have a PS2 or a PSone. I used to have a PS2 but I blew my last one up quite a few months ago while installing a mod chip. The fact that I still haven't bought a replacement yet AND that I bought a DSlite last month INSTEAD of a replacement PS2 speaks to my not being a fanboy. I defend Sony because they are the company that gets the most flak for little to no reason.

I am looking forward to christmas when I get my 360, I can't wait to play Gears of War, Lost Odyssey, and Mass Effect. I think that the DS is the best handheld ever, and the only reason that my PSP is still here is because of the faint glimmer of hope that the TIFF eloader supporting 2.8 will be released soon. How about you find out something about me before you judge me OK!

EDIT:
here's a good quote from reaperman@home from the first page of this thread.

I guess this means I'll have to look a little harder if I want a gameking package...

Sony, sony , sony... faited to suffer the never ending internal damnation of its own paranoia, trapped in by its ill conceived campaign of lies it has tried to unleash upon us, and now with its own buyer base turning on it, only one perception can be foretold to been its its future.... doom
ahh. but opinions can change and facts can be faulty.

whether or not you are a fanboy is a moot issue, people do what they want, as for sony catching flak for "little to no reason" that is just stupid (no offence to you) sony shut down lik sang because of a breach of contract THAT WAS MAKING THEM MONEY, sony was getting pissy because lik sang would have sold asian PS3s to the EU and broke the european street date which is SEVERAL MONTHS after the US one.you cant really blame nintendo for having lik sang remove the "backup devices" because those do infringe on nintendos stuff. sony has been makign idiotic press statements, fudging data, actively sabotaging the sucess of their handheld (i guarentee if they allowed homebrew with no hacking it would have sold twice as good), and pushing for the sucess of ANOTHER propretary format after a laundry list of failures (umd/betamax/minidisc etc) and the fact that they have delayed their standalone BD player untill next year almost doesnt speak very much good towards sony

any crap sony catches is most likely deserved.

No, "Ignorant Fanboy Hater" is more accurate. :P

Lopok at it this way: If Nintendo allowed Lik-Sang to sell European Wiis in Europe, and they sued Lik-Sang for selling said Wiis in the US, and then Lik-Sang made the decision to shut down, would you all be fuming the same way at Nintendo?

No, of course not. Saying anything bad about Nintendo would be unspeakable.

Lik-Sang closed their doors on their own accord. Sony just sued them for breaching a preset agreement.

(Honestly I didn't trust that place anyways...)

Besides, it's not like Sony's going to die anytime soon just because of this little incident. They're still a major microchip manufacturer, and they have other consumer electronics besides video games...

The point is, Lik-Sang broke a legally binding contract, so Sony had every right to sue them.
