with more land there is a potential to have a higher population yes, but in your posts you say nothing about population or cars, just landmass AND if you look at population density as compaired to landmass (all these numbers from wikipedia) the uk has 243 people per/kmÂ² = 629per/sq mi while the USAs population density average is a mere 30/kmÂ² = 83/sq mi. the uk is 94,526 sq. mi. the united states is 3,718,711sq. mi. if the uk had the same population density and was the same size (appx) as the us it would have a population of about 2,351,487,990 people or 7.8X the population of the US.. we have 39.3x the land area bu and what sparkfist is refering to only 5x the population and what sparkfist is refering to is during the industrial revolution when there were tons of coal fired factories and stuff, very, very, very dirty times.

Im still pretty sure it didn't black out trees except when close to the factories. The Industrial Revolution is one of the history topics I have done. Ironically the largest one I did was really 'The American West' lol.

What I mean is we pollute less because we can't pollute more. Yes, our population is very dense. My town is becoming more and more residential by the year. There are really no fields left now

All i gotta say is sam, people live in ice land, iceland is huge right? how come there isn't many emissions from there?

Japan is small right? Tones of people live there, right, size has nothing to do with emisions land wise these days.

The earth was a lot warmer around the 1200's, the level of carbon dioxide was also much higher. The thing about global warming is, its a <b><u>theory</u></b>

They can't prove it. In the 70's they said there was global cooling, now there saying global "warming" which is a load of crap. I say its natural cycles in the earth.

Needless to say, I miss winter (especially being Canadian) And check the front page for pictures (Uploading now) And ill try and get a decent thermomiter(sp) to check the averaging cooling capacity/btus on it.

Better hope we don't have another mini ice-age then. If you check up on it you'll read that there was a year they named "The Year with no Summer". I don't know can anyone image where it's snowing and below freezing all year round, and I don't mean peopel living in the artice areas.

Also I thought I might add that they think that we might have another mini ice-age. They haven't nailed down when but they can say that if it's in something like a predictible cycle it's a few centuries off.

I suppose where i live im kinda lucky to still see woods, fields, farms, and not to mention the good 'ol Amish People. But, it was 103 F a couple days ago (I think it was on Monday)

CT shoreline is the humid

. I was miserable walking to and from to local computer repair/sales shop in town yesterday, It's only a twenty minute walk and I usually don't mind but it seemed like all the water from those wonderful beach front properties had decided to get up and move inland, *blech*, miserable to say the least. On the bright side the guy said he'd have the pre-owned G3 iMac I'm buying from him formatted and ready for me to take home by tomorrow

Yes I say that is not true because all you have to do is look at mongolia to see that more land mass does not equal more emmisions. Mongolia is the least populated country on the planet yet look at how big it is!

Ok. In a industrialised country it is. Also you can't deny the American laziness....Driving the car everywhere, not take bikes/walking etc...

Come to think of it, out year 10 mock exams in my school were one a article about american laziness lol. Is it true you take the car to places only 500-100metres away sometimes?

no i dont know anyone who would drive that shor a distance, and yea we do drive almost everywhere, becasue stuff is FARTHER APART, my closest town is about 3 miles away, nearest place with more than 10k people is like 7 miles away.

I thought it was America that used metric and we that were supposed to use Imperial

My nearest town is 5+ Miles away... Also the article was buy some American bloke who said that where he lived, 700m from the town centre, people all took the car and instead of parking it. Stopped it outside one shop and afterwards, got back in, drove about 5m to the next shop and then repeated until they headed home after being done shopping.
