thank god, i thought for a second i fried something. well im out of batteries, this wraps up day 2. ill pick up a carton of batteries from costco tommorow. i think im getting the jist of it now. still dont know how to wire the screen to the mobo, if anyone could help me out with that id appreciate it.
EDIT: Heres a thought I had. What if I had two seperate battery packs, one for my screen and one for my snes. Would there be any advantage to this? Because I'm not too sure how to wire both of them together on one battery pack (let alone one on the battery pack, I managed to get the lcd screen on the pack but not sure how to do the snes).

For batteries if you have seperate batteries for each voltage you get ease of setting up the portable, the down side is that this increases the wieght and you run the risk of one battery dying before the other (so something like the screen can die before the system and you cant see how to save the game).
If you want to have the whole thing work off of one battery you have to find ways to get different voltages out. So lets say you have a 9.6v battery, to power the screen use a 16 ohm resister (or use and LDO chip and connect right to that) and for the system it has a built in 7805 regulator so you can safely put in the 9.6v.

oh im definetly going for two different packs. Weight isnt much of an issue. I'm not gonna be jogging with this or anything and not being able to save if hte monitor dies, well I'm only playing for jokes not for actual storylines. So thats definetly a plus. So I have the 8 AA pack for the snes and what kind of pack should i get for the monitor? Another 8 one?
im pretty sure the monitor is gonna use up less power so i can just replace the snes batteries every once in awhile but the monitor will keep on going.

As I said if you use rechargable batteries they're voltage is 1.2 (you want these they're better than alkaline) so 9 (10.8v) for the screen and 6 (7.2v).

only problem is when I went to my radioshack they only had 2, 4 and 8 packs. any other places carry battery packs? and I'll get the rechargeable ones. This way I can just charge them at night. Makes sense
The SNES runs on 5v but has a 7805 power regulator so you need to put in 7.2v otherwise the regulator doesnt work properly. The screen has a 7808 power regulator and needs 10.8v to work so thats why. I will tell you this, the screen needs 500mA to run while the system uses more like 750mA.

I knew I was right though. Because I went to radio shack and the guy told me the SNES wont run on 8 batteries. It needs 2000mA to run properly. I left and I realized 2000? I don't know anything about mA but I knew he was wrong so I went back and bought it. Then the guy was making fun of me with his friend in Isamic. I'd like to go back with the built SnesP and just shove it in his face. Lol

Okay why does it keep overheating. I wired the 8 pack of batteries to the snes and it started to overheat again and i burnt myself this time. i should have hooked up the 6 pack to the snes. however one thing still remains i removed the switch, so how am i going to turn it on? do i just rewire the switch back on? and i have alligator clips, so do i just clip the wires a bit down the wire coming out of the snes then attach the end of it to the switch?
I have powered the hipscreen using 5 plain jane AA's(1.5v's). With four it will power on then cut off. When I measured the voltage of the 5 batteries I got a voltage of 8(?). I'm not exacly sure why it's reading .5v more but if anyone has this screen and a 7.2v battery I'd give it a try. I'll try to get a picture of it running with the 5 batteries tomorrow.
Last night I powered it off of a 6v 1.2mah Panasonic camcorder battery. The voltage readout was right about at 7V(don't ask me why). All I did was took an old A/C adapter that would plug into the existing A/C cable line and chopped it. The power is delivered in the center of the plug and the ground is on the outside of the plug. So take your multimeter and make sure you know which wire is the negative and positive before you start applying power.
