I misspell his name too. lol eurddrue. HA! got it
All right I have a new non-hacker stupidity. Not really a conversation though.
Alright, my friend is convinced that any kind of physical or softmod done to a console is illegal. Including making a portable. I have an example here.
ME: Alright so *tell him all the specs of the portable* About the battery and screen, etc. etc.
HIM: This is so illegal
ME:
He's right about mods like modchips and flashcards but he thinks anything is illegal.
I asked him if he thought just giving the console a paint job was illegal and he said yes.
He even thinks that taking apart the console is illegal.
Non hacker, yeah.

Lol, the other day an idiot in my orchestra thinks he knows heaps about technology. So I ask him the simplest question I can think of: "What's downloading?" He replies: "Putting music and stuff on your Ipod." What. a. douche.
Re: what's the dumbest thing a non-hacker has said to you?
I've said it one and I'll say it again. Some times you have to just keep your mouth shut. I've managed to avoid things like these by just not talking a lot about this hobby.
The worst thing I've run into is just people that ask, "Why not just use an emulator?"
"... Oh, I don't know maybe because I want to use the original cartridges."

I have a manager that doesnt grasp anything outside of sports. Ask him anything about sports and he has you beat. Give him something tangible he falters. I overheard him talking about buying a new watch; it was kind of hilarious.
Manager:SO I want to buy a new watch and I want get one of those eco drive ones
Other person: which one?
manager: they're kinetic powered watches that operate on um, kinetic energy that...uh, turn on...
Me: They operate on a small counterweight in the bezel that's connected to a winding mechanism that operates on a one-way ratchet. You move your wrist and the weight pulls against the movement causing the watch to wind, but you can also manually wind them otherwise if you take off the watch, the movement slows down.
Manager and other person: .....Uh, yeah...
