to do this I would get a Gen3 and just lay them out to get it as thin as possible
you would be right Turbo Tax
and there was 100 or so neptunes produced so you could find one

i thought that the gen3 wasnt compatible with the 32x

Yes, Gen3 IS NOT compatible with the 32x. I'd really recommend, making a vacuum formed case, then maybe incline it, to match the Neptune, then make vacuum formed buttons to pose as the pushbotton on and off/ reset switch (saying that use Gen2 for it needs pusing to reset and power) then either spraypaint, or use decals for the writing, and spraypaint the case of course, and add some of a tinge to match the glow.

Well, maybe Triton, just MAY vacuum form it(through some expenses), or you can make your own table, it's not too hard, I'd make one, if only I had the funds

A vac-forming table costs as much as a shop vac and some misc. supplies.

Hmmm, look for any shops in the domestic (US, or any country you live in) region that makes custom cases, mail/email (first scan, duh) your plans, email is advised/recommended, and see if they are to oblige, or turn you down, just don't call CNC shops, they have OUTRAGOUS prices...in a bad way

Yep, the 32x acted as a pass-through for Genesis games also.
