Yeah, kinda. What really happened is Atari, optimistically, had produced more E.T. cartridges than there were actual Atari game consoles in existence at the time. And since it's big failure. And I mean big failure, they went to Alamogordo, New Mexico, and buried the remainder of the cartridges deep in trash on a small landfill. The carts were never found, and E.T. humoungus failure played a big part in the videogame crash, and Atari's bankruptcy.

so basicly what your saying is that hollywoods mettling in video games produced a cheap and distastfull reputation to the video game media that has last to this day.
