Rewiring a comp (sort of)

going with that idea, look for areas where there is no dust.

also, AMIBIOS is your bios. thats not helpful. american megatrends is what AMI stands for.

you could try googling some of those numbers but i dont know if you will have much luck.

Open it up, blow out any huge dust golems that are likely hiding inside, and take a good look at the motherboard.

Somewhere on the board it should have some sort of identification, usually silk-screened on the board itself. For example, I recently worked on an old AMD Slot A mobo, silk-screened with "MSI3364A" (or something along those lines). From this you can tell the manufacturer and the model number.

For MSI boards, look somewhere between the expansion slots, or near the middle of the board. Slot 1 Intel boards sometimes have a bunch of info in the corner.

I think your board MIGHT be MSI or something like that. Most of the IBM or Intel boards I have seen run PhoenixBIOS.

If all else fails, pull the IDE, Floppy, and power cables and take a bunch of high-res pictures of the connectors in question, and of the entire inside of the case, and use that as a reference.

Im looking around but there is a lot of ribbon cable, can I unplug some of this ribbon cable to get a better look at the comps innards

naw im just kidding. there absolutely no problems there. even if you forget how it was all plugged in (take a picture or something), theres at least 3 people in this thread who can tell you how to put it back together.

well I have got the Hardrive LED, Power LED, and the Power switch all working

Now just the speaker and the reset switch

Cool, got most of it. Do yourself a favor and don't bother with the speaker.
