Well, I'm what you call an "Otaku". The Otaku is a sub-category of the geek, which is different from the nerd or the dork. They watch anime, read manga, and play videogames. :P

Geek: Someone who "obsesses" over something "geeky." Like Starwars, computers or Anime (Otaku).

Nerd: Someone who excels greatly in (and obsesses about) subjects such as math and science. A geek does not have to be a genus. The genuses are nerds. Nerds may also be into electronics, such as myself.

Dork: This is actually a way of acting. Braces, suspenders, buck teeth and high or nasal voices are all things commonly associated with being a dork. The word “dorkâ€

hey, you know what you could do?

um, not care what you're labeled as :P!! seriously, I hate bloody labels for people (he's a ______, she's a _____)...you're all the same to me (equally..DESPICABLE!). just kidding on that last part there ;).

seriously, though, why should this matter so much? well, perhaps because that's how society kind of works, but in times like this, I always go by a standard motto of mine...F*** you, society!

:P

Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Booya gamey, BOO-YA! I completely agree with you and the whole hating society thing. :P My thoughts go too deep to get into it here, though. For example, music. I’m sick of these half-naked pop-stars that can’t even sing that well being shoved down Americas’ throats. Rap too. What IS that music?! It’s not music. It’s not singing. It’s talking to a beat. That’s why all I listen to is J-pop and country. Eh… I need to stop before I turn this thread into a flame war. But you get the point.

You will notice girls starting to "develop" and you will begin to take intrest in girls bodys.... blah blah blah (insert generic father son conversation here). I'm sure you know the one. The whole birds and the bees thing.

Plain and simple girls like studs, and as time moves on the stud and the geek are merging together. The football jocks are playing video games and the geeks are getting more and more into sports... if you can call them that.

Be smart. Invest in a gym pass over the next few years, or if your too shy get a home gym.

Of course you would be a compleete shut in, but I know what one I have chosen
That is the most bull**** post ever.

What ever you say. Tho I highly doubt it passes anything Cennar says when hes high.

Just trying to rationalize his not wanting to be with girls.

what's wrong with social classes? as in, Chav (not sure if you have Chavs in US), Townies, Skaters, Goths etc., and I visit here, but i'm not a nerd

Don't be a nerd, but be a nerd in disguise, and just be a nerd while on Benheck....

You people are taking this nerd thing too far. Here's my opinion,
I have freinds. I had a girlfreind in the past. It was then that I realized I was a geek. After she left me. So now I enjoy beeing a geek. I'm in the school news paper. p.s about the whole carrying a pda thing. I decided to buy one of those handheld games with 12 games on it like tictac toe and other games like that. When I buy it I will mod it and do some stuff with it and make it my pda. I just need something to pass time as a pda.

Really I'd have to say if you want to see what a real geek is, go and buy/rent Clerks, Chasing Amy, Mallrats, Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob: Strike back. Kevin Smith and his characters are all geeks. Yes they're not the technology geeks but they meet the foundation, which is that your life revolves around comics/scifi/D&D/games/computers or anything of that sort.

To be blunt most of us here are gamers or computer types, so unless your not interested in either of these two don't expect to understand much.

I am a geek.
