How to run a psone screen at 12v

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Just input 7.2V (or more) into the 12V line on the n64. It only runs to a single 7805 so it'll run fine.

Hey if you're using 12V then you can use the 8V DC-DC converter from ti.com. Might as well pick up a 3.3V converter too, it would run great off 12V. timmeh87 made a thred in the N64 forum, here

If he did, then he could unplug the battery and use a car cigarrette adapter. That cold be pretty handy.

Another way to do it would be to get 9.6V, use the above mentioned DC-Dc converters (which require 9V [though you can use 7.2V at less efficiency if you wanted]) then just use a 7808 (or even better buy a 7.5V LDO regulator) to knock the 9.6V down to something the PSone screen can use.
Then if you REALLY wanted to save power, you could use a 5V DC-DC converter to replace all the not-so-efficient 7805's on the N64 and PSone screen.

You could also use the 12V from a cigarrette adapter with the above setup thanks to the wide input of the DC-DC converters and 7808.
