If your willing to look through g4techtv.com you can find the two computeter they built. They were both high end (like alienware), the second one they built they bought everything off the interent and the total cost was $550-600. It may help you on what your looking for.

Also I'd say if you can get anything from any computer to canablize into this new one, do it as even DDR ram is expencive (I've been eyeing for months but cant afford it).

I have a GB of DDR that I bought for $100. Pretty good IMO. Keep an eye out in the Sunday paper, many stores have ads, especially Best Buy, CompUSA, and Office Max.
