Total Rant about college

HK-47,

I was in a similar situation in a math class (geometry,) only I had fallen asleap. I don't remember what the problem on the board was, all I remember was it was something about writing proofs. Anyway, he calls on me with the intent of proving that I wasn't paying attention (which I wasn't) but I was actually able to answer the question correctly after looking at the board for a couple of seconds. After that the teacher never called on me again, and I enjoyed an entire semester of after-lunch naps (and yes, I did pass the class, A- if I remember correctly.)

I miss the days of being able to not pay attention in class and still be able to get by. I can do that in some of my classes here at college, but others, such as Math Analysis II, require paying attention and hours of studying, and that's just if you want to pass. We've had at least 8 people (out of an original 24 maybe) drop out this semester. I love the material, but it's incredibly difficult.
As for the subject of this thread, here's my two cents. Enjoy the time you have now with all of your friends. If you're going to a school you really like and studying a subject you enjoy and can succeed at, don't worry about the cost. I'm going to Stevens Institute of Technology, which all total is over $40k/year (thankfully I have some scholarships) but so far it's a good experience. Sometimes it can be hard adjusting and making friends, but eventually things start falling into place (at least I'm hoping they do

).
Just remember the most important part: Carpe Diem.

anyway, er....I'm a junior in high school now, but I've already taken an electronics and computer engineering course at CMU. it cost a lot of money, but it was well worth it. I'm definitely gonna be taken some form of electronics engineering (or something similar) as my major in college

Ya it's prolly not a good idea for my to get stressed out, my father and my cousin and my grandfather all have a urinary desease controlled by stress. And I most likly have it, it surfaced for all of them around college but for my cousin who is 20 something, who went through med school it was especialy bad and just last week she had to have her bladder removed (not fun). As far as I know shes still in the hospital.

So ya, it's in my best intrest to keep my stress down

like everyone else is saying, enjoy the time you have. if you think homework is bad now, your bladder will probably explode next year.

if you dont think homework is bad now, then good. your bladder will still explode next year.

but if you are in the right program, you will have the best time at school that you have ever had. and be sure to join a team/club. you will go freakign crazy otherwise. trust me. i joined the solar car team - if that sounds cool, you should see if your university has one. or like the school paper. or something. all work and no play makes radon199 commit suicide (it has definitely happnened before)

living in res is awesome though. i live at home, but i have freinds in res. id say the #1 reason i wish i lived on campus is so that i could wake up at 8:20 for my 8:30 classes. and then go back to bed right after

. right now i have to get up at 7 to make those classes : /

so yeah. i hope i didnt scare you. overall, its awesome. dont worry about it. dont worry about the money. dont worry about freinds. if youre not anti-social you'll make new freinds real fast. everyone else is just as freaked out as you.

Think about the best part about going to college in Vancouver, you're only about 20 minutes away from me! Okay, so that might not be the best part, but atleast you'll be in the province with the best pot, and we're not far from cennar!

Is pot really that good? Well I guess it is since my mother said it's not as bad as cigarettes. Doesn't pot have a lot of healthy factors to it?

Vancouver is one of those weird citys. You can be walking down a street with people with iPods and other expensive items and look down the allys and see homeless drug addicts everywhere.

On the topic of pot (lol), BC is one of the best growers in the country. Miles and miles of uninhabited valleys miles from any roads in a climate that never drops below -5 C and only snows a little every winter.

Or go to some school in NYC, so we can hang out, lol, lots of fun to be had in the city.

Yes, we are definitely an interresting city, but we have a lower murder rate than Toronto. If you've ever seen that drug documentary shot in Vancouver(can't remember the name), you'll see that drug users will use drugs right in front of the cops(although they're starting to clamp down on this now).

Yes, like I have said before, BC is huge in pot. We do go below -5Â°C once in a while, and we get a few feet of snow every few years, but we do still have ideal growing conditions.

I hope I'm going to MIT, but I'm not quite sure. I talked to one of the designated couselor people for getting into MIT, and she said that as long as I keep my grades up, volunteer a little more, and raise my ACT score 2 points by my Senior year I should get in.
