More Gmail invites as posts go up?

There's enough invites out there to send an invite to every computer user on earth. I don't know why they still use the system. I checked 3 of my accounts, and they only one that still has 50 invites is the one that I don't use for sending any emails, so it must be based on the amount of use the account gets.
