Genesis Portable using EA Sports Genny Clone

it's worth a shot. Pin one being ground, should be pretty easy to find on it...when I get home. I have a feeling my copy of sonic & knuckles won't survive this night.... I will miss it.

my worry is that it's going to start skipping pins differently than the radica. Which isn't too big of a problem unless it starts skipping them differently than my madden cart as well.

Ok, I'm gonna stop at my local Argos tomorrow and grab one of those, I'm pretty sure I can work out what's what. I'm too tired to go into it right now but tomorrow is another day!

Reaperman > The small chip on that Madden cart is probably a cmos chip so the sram can be interpreted by the Genesis.

Also, the 'D' lines are quite neccessary... 'D' stands for data

The 'A' lines are basicly memory/rom allocations. All 'C' is a refrence to the part/connection number. Nothing to do with Genesis carts

Does anyone know if the sound on this is any better than the Radica? I'm doubting it since the GOACs a generic part (I think) but if it is the Radica's history (so long as I can find a higher rom allocation than A15, if not compatability would be pretty crap!!!!)

Oh yeah, and to connect anything else up to this thing you'll need to cut the traces (leave a gap of 1mm or so), strip the green crap with a knife/sand it/emery pencil, tin the trace with solder then attach your wires to that. A bit more time consuming but your best bet I'd say. And make sure to hot glue them in place after your done!

I'd try looking where the traces go first, grounding every pin might just kill everything like... forever

Try using a multi-meter to see what's ground and what's not. I'll bet my ass it uses 3.3v (or whatever the Radica uses)

I didnt like genesis that much but I would still like to work on something

lol, not much god-like about that! Just a case of cutting the traces where it counts and soldering to the remainder

Incidently, these things are harder to find than I though they'd be! I'm still hunting for one!

You can have mine for $4. It's impossible to figure anything out on this thing. I'm just gonna get a radica. Ah well, it was worth a shot.

$4 is so worth it. Even if you can't make it portable the controls are nicely wired on handy separate boards for other portable use.
