Dude, don't scare him, I've never heard of a "burned out" memory stick or anything of the sort, but the corrupted data that can happen is real, I mean, its just data, the memory stick is still fine. Quick format and off you go again.

It happened to my dad and it happened to my friend's sister.

My dad was playing tetris on y28 SNES and put in sleep for about an hour. Then when he went back it froze, restart, dead 256.

And my friend's sister's died after trying to start up her GB emu. Froze, and then when she restarted the memory stick died. Luckily it was the 32MB

I personally havent heard of it. To check your firmware start your psp without a disc or hit home and go farthest over to the right and down to system settings and click on i and then go to system information down at the bottom and click on it, it should then show what firmware you have. The bar code problem is that the psp's frimware can be upgraded.

Also you can get a 1gb memory card for $90 to $100 american. I know directron has it for $100. And i dunno about the 128 for 10 thats over exagervating.

And what games have you decided on. Just be sure that if you get a racing go with midnight club 3 dub edition.

Only you can upgrade the firmware, it even gives you the option to upgrade or stop when starting the games that force the upgrade to play. For all I know, the barcode way is the only way to see which firmware the PSP has before you buy it, and without opening the box.
Current Status: Single and Portableless.

ok. Hey as long as we are talking memory stcik stuff what do you guys think is the best plan fro emmoery cards. I would like to get 2 1gb duo memory cards but lets be realistic. Would two 512s at $50 a pop be could. And use one for videos cause i wouldnt put music on them and the other for modding. Or get a 1gb and 512 for an extra $50. I only have about 150 but i duno.

Also would it be possible to hook an ipod directly into the memory card slot. I know they were talking about ti on the psp linux furoms but know of them seem to have the hardware background as you guys. So would it be possible or easy cuase i know it would make a lot of poepl happy if anyone could help wiht it.

I'd wait for a homebrew browser that can download and then get a 512.

Then set up a web server with your videos.

You can do it with 2.0 and that's one of the reasons I'm updating.
